Re: Question about privacy on FindMyPast and MyHeritage
Is it possible that the false dates you put in were inadvertently shared with somebody who then entered the data into MH?
Because the interface that MH provides does NOT allow FH to write anything

Family Historian does not send any of your data to FMP or MH; it only sends a query that searches for hints. Your data will not become available to other people.
Note: FH will also not

it tells me to verify info in FH before adding it. I searched FHUG and last entry is 2015,

Yes, Sid.
In Reports, use Report > Options and open Privacy tab which has several useful settings.
You can also make a Copy of your Project and use the Clean Living Persons plugin to ‘hide’

Re: internet data matches for Findmypast
Many thanks to all those offering assistance. The problem seems to have been caused by the findmypast cache file being corrupted or maybe too large. This file is not visible under normal circumstance

Ron,
Yes, converting £ to D is rather odd.
I can only assume an unusual character encoding in the GEDCOM file.
What did the GEDCOM HEADer say against the 1 CHAR line?
UTF-8, ANSI, ANSEL or something
