Thank you John and Mike for your help. I’ve downloaded the plug in, I had been using File/Import Export/Gedcom file previously. But it’s worked and the edited tree is now on

Hi Brian,
Yes, if your trees are uncomplicated and you only want to use Ancestry DNA then File > Import/Export > Export > GEDCOM File will often be OK.
As you say, you must remember to choose UTF-8

Thanks, Mike. Although my uploads to Ancestry etc are pretty basic and purely to enable any DNA matches to get some idea of who's who, I think I'll get the plug-in and be on the safe side.

Hi Julie,
It depends on whether your have set Ancestral Sources to use Method 1 (the default) or Method 2.
But assuming Method 1 then that Auto Text is added to the Source record Text From Source
