I can’t answer what FH is apparently doing but wonder how you created this one person import test.
Did you export the person from FH or from another program?

It is perfectly feasible to record DNA results/matches in FH V6.

I endorse everything Lorna says especially about checking ALL the Merge dialogue tabs.
It is easier to specify what will be merged rather than what will not be carried over.

Presumably, when you imported that family tree, you used File > Project Window > New Project… and ‘Import a GEDCOM file’.

Heather, FH7 is fantastic! Rather than do all your sorting in FH6 I would shove it all into the upgrade, and then do it. My reason for saying that, is in FH7 the source and citation input are much
