That is what I do except I save it in RTF format.

I then save it again in Word format. By doing it this way you can edit it making the images larger but by doing so it will mean the size increases and may be too big to send by email.

Thank you but I belong to Ancestry already but I have all the ancestry I’ve found on my Family Historian programme and I want to print some of it without having to use too much paper and ink. I just keep going round and round in circles trying to work out how to do it .Thank you anyway.

Pauline,

It would help us give the best advice if you could identify your objectives.

Why do you need a printout on paper?

When you say you prefer a list, do you literally mean just a long list of names with one per line?

What other information do you require, such as Birth, Marriage, Death dates and places?

Do you need information on how they are related to one another?

For example, would a list similar to that in the Records Window be OK?

Can someone tell me how to print out a family tree not in the boxes so I can get more on the page please? I was trying to print out the family from the late 1880’s and it said it would be over 200 pages ! It only started on half a page in the beginning so I would prefer it as a list rather than the boxes. Any help I would be so grateful Thank you .

Re: Unmarried couple sentence template

Don McQuade

Hi,

Apologies. Yes I meant to say 'were an unmarried couple'. Well spotted!

I have unticked the Auto-generate as suggested and that looks fine now. I am going to save it as doc file so I suppose I could make any alterations to the text then.

Re: Relationship Report

Ian/Mike, many thanks.... and I'm very impressed with speed of your responces.

Although I was somewhat sceptical (as I have been the Root Person for years and whenever I've used "Go to File Root" it always went to my record) I tried your solution first Mike.  I was not expecting success but, I'm sure you're ahead of me here, it worked for both the standard "Relationship to Root" column and the new "Relationship" solution column as set out earlier in this topic. Lesson for me? Never discount the obvious, always double check. Doh!

As Mike's solution resolved my issue I had no need to persue your suggestion Ian...but, again, thanks for responding.

Re: Relationship Report

It sounds like you have no File Root person defined.

In the Focus Window, select the person who should be File Root, right-click their box and choose Make File Root.

This is the expresssion I have had for that column through several upgrades & updates & it is working fine:

I have v7.0.5 and migrated from V6 some time ago. I have the Relationship to Root column in the Records Window which previously showed relationships but now the column is totally blank: it would seem that I have no relations! 🤔

I tried removing the column and then replacing it but still nothing showed up. I then tried the fix (enter Relationship To Root in the Header box, and enter =Relationship(FileRoot(),,TEXT,1) in the Expression box. Add.) but all this did was enter another blank column.

Can anyone help resolve this?

Many thanks

Re: Unmarried couple sentence template

Lorna Craig

Don,

When you said the report reads 'were a married couple' did you mean it says 'were an unmarried couple'?  That's what it should say if you have set the Status to 'Never Married'.   I assume, because they are still living, that what you want to change is just the tense, from 'were' to 'is'.  Unfortunately I don't think this can be done.   However it is possible to suppress the sentence completely in some types of report by unticking the report option to 'Auto-generate sentences if Missing Facts'.  However this might not be ideal because it might suppress similar sentences elsewhere which you want to kepp. As explained in the Help files:

"If this option is ticked a sentence will automatically be generated for a couple if there would otherwise be no other sentence connecting them. The sentence generated will depend on the value of the Status field for their marriage. If the status is "Unmarried Couple", the sentence will say that at some point they were an unmarried couple. If the status is "Unknown" or"Never Married", the sentence will say that at some point, they had a relationship. Otherwise it will say that at some point they married.
This setting will also have the effect that a sentence is generated for anyone about whom no facts are recorded. The sentence will say that the person has few details recorded about him or her."

Hi Don,

You cannot control that wording directly.

In the Property Box of either person set the Status at the bottom of the Spouse tab to Unmarried Couple (or Never Married).

Then the report will not say they are married.
