Re: Problems after unlinking

As long as you make a note of the Individual records involved (ideally their Record Id) then it is safe to Unlink Record and subsequently relink them where needed if necessary.

That can be used for Children and Husband and Wife wherever needed.

See the FHUG Knowledge Base ~ Removing Unwanted Relations:

https://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=how_to:removing_unwanted_relations

Thanks Mike, I was afraid to do that in case I had to start this particular group all over again.

Display Joanot ROSSICH in the Focus Window and he should have two entries, one for Eulalia and one with no spouse.

Under the entry with no spouse click right-each Child in turn and choose Unlink Record.

After finding out that I had confused two XVI century ancestors I was finally able to set their descendants apart. But somewhere along the line I must have made a mistake and now I have the individual with the same children under a spouse ("Eulalia", see the screenshot) and a "no spouse". How can I get rid of the "no spouse" group? Thanks for your help.

Thank you for your response.  Both of those issues are dealt with!  I'm trying to add parents and siblings to a husband who is not a direct antecedent - his wife is.  Does that make a difference?

Hi,
I have opened a parent window, entered the parent, but it is not showing on the diagram!  It's the first time that this has ever happened!  Anyone any ideas please?  I've deleted and re-entered and still the same. Michele

If you are frequently working on a small set of individuals then why not create a named list and add them to that list.
You could create named lists for all individuals from a particualr town or city, other named lists for individuals grouped by period, endless possibilities.

They will always be on hand and easy to locate the individuals you want.

I have these Repositories, and the source counts are listed. How do I view the sources for a particular Repository, for instance, I have have 64 sources against my Ancestry Repository, and would like to list them. Clicking on the Show Sources tab in the repository property box reveals "not applicable"

Thanks everyone for the help.

Yes the issue is not getting to the individual record entry but getting that individual into the focus window when they are unlinked to any family. John ( Hanson) thanks that is exactly the method I have discovered I just wondered if there was a slightly quicker way.
I have been using FH for quite a while but probably tend to stick with the easy stuff and adapting it to a One name study where initially at least I have quite a lot of unlinked individuals is taking a bit of thinking about but having said that its my favourite bit of genealogy software as it seems so much more intuitive tan some of the competition.

Having found the Individual record in the Records Window, or anywhere else, click the Focus magnifying-glass button in toolbar to open that record in the Focus Window.

Re: Citation Media

Thanks again, Jane,

That has cracked it.
In my little debug loop, when I get to the event I'm interested in (ptrEvent) I loop over its child items. What I was doing was looking for the SOUR tag and instead of looping over its child items I was getting the source record from the link, and of course the OBJE wasn't in that.

Using pObj = fhGetItemPtr(ptrEvent,'~.SOUR[1].OBJE[1]>') showed me it really really was there after all.

Re: Citation Media

I wonder if those are Local Media Objects within the Individual record rather than separately linked Media records.

There is the ‘Move Local Media to Media Records’ Plugin that will convert them so they are more manageable.

https://www.family-historian.co.uk/pluginstore/plugin-entry?id=1946

It does no harm to run it because if there are no Local Media Objects nothing gets changed.

Thanks Jane, I'll give those data references a try.

At the moment I have a plugin which is processing this individual. It  has a bit of debug code to loop over child items. When it hits the source record it loops over that record's child items. The OBJE only appears as a child item if it's a source level media object. It's not there at all if it's a citation media object.
