Wrong thread to socialise I know, but reminded me of programming a Marconi Myriad computer at The Gas Council in Hinckley in 1970-1. Was first industrial placement of my Computer Science degree - then the big new thing - from Leicester Polytechnic. Ferranti paper-tape readers doing a destructive 'hope it reads' high-speed load with the tape peeling in two down the centre-line. Don't get that fun anymore!

Degree or not, I bow to Mike Tate's Lua scripting skills!

Hello Mike,

 

As some one as a self taught programmer (Marconi Co ltd, Great Baddow) day after August BH, 1966 (first at end of month) that is so useful in the way of pointers. Lateral thinking and logical thinking as a poor maths graduate and 55 years in computers, is so very useful a background to be a family historian!

Now all I have to sort out is to learn not to engage my mouth before my brain!
