I’m having trouble finding the page to download the plugin. Would you please send a link?

Subject: Re: [family-historian] Reinstall question
This Email list is a replacement for the Rootsweb mail list, both run by Simon Orde of Calico Pie.
Neither are anything to do with the FHUG website, so I advise you stick with the FHUG and ask your questions there.
The FH File > Backup/Restore commands only backup Projects and do NOT backup your customisations.
So download the ‘Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings’ Plugin from the FH Plugin Store.
It is best to update to FH V6.2.7 and run the Plugin before installing Windows 10.
Then afterwards when you install FH and update to FH V6.2.7 the backups will be compatible.
Have you gone to the https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 website to Create Windows 10 installation media?
That is the technique that reliably works for free.
But this discussion would be much easier in the FHUG Forums.

I do belong to the FHUG. That was how I landed here. I thought it switched over. I have a few questions. Is there any need for me to upgrade FH before switching to Windows 10? I don’t think I have a “Backup and Restore…” plug-in, bur anytime I make changes I use the regular [I thought built-in] “Backup and Restore…” selecting to Full Project option. Is that the same thing? As far as Windows 10 goes, I had a few failed upgrade attempts alone, a couple with a computer consultant/tech friend and one each with two Microsoft techs2 on the phone. One said I’d need to purchase a Product key for full use once upgraded [but never happened] while the other thought not. So, I think I’ve tried the technique to which you’re referring but I’m not sure.
There is advice on that topic in the FHUG Knowledge Base Family Historian Installation Advice:
I suggest you join the FHUG https://www.fhug.org.uk/ that is free and has free resources, forums, downloads, etc.
FH V6.2.5 is NOT the latest version, so I strongly advise you update to the free FH V6.2.7 before anything else.
Also make sure you have backups of your FH Projects and anything else on the PC that is valuable.
Don’t forget to run the Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings Plugin, otherwise you may lose all your customisations of Diagrams, Reports, Queries, Plugins, Fact Sets, Property Box tabs, Icons, etc, etc.
You only need your FH V6.0.0 Upgrade disk and the Licence Registration Keys for both V5 and V6 as explained in the Installation Advice above.
Then you can update to the latest free FH V6.2.7 download.
BTW: Are you using the Windows 10 free update technique? Don’t buy a Windows 10 licence.

I am currently using Family Historian 6.2.5 on a Windows 7 PC. I need to do an install of Windows 10 that will eliminate my programs/apps. So, I will need to reinstall FH. I have my FH 5 disk and the FH 6.0.0 Upgrade disk. Will I be able to get set on on Windows 10 by using them sequentially and then doing the online upgrades? If not, what do I need to do?
