The problem still seems to persist in NVDA 2020.3 with English (Great Britain) eSpeak, also with other words.
Those lines read "new". NEW est est NEW
Those lines read "n e w" NEW test test NEW
But - now with capital T at the beginning of "test", read as "NEW" again. NEW Test Test NEW
I do not really understand the cause for it, I think it depends on what comes before and afterwards.
