That's right. I don't confirm this with your online test.

@sthibaul Any idea what is causing this?

By alexarnaud:

I hear a difference between "bientôt" and "bientot". It should be both pronounce as "bientot". Check there.

[espeak-ng:master] New Comment on Issue #701 In French: bad pronunciation of the word "aujourd'hui"
By valdisvi:

This cannot be reproduced in eSpeak NG online testing site, therefore it probably comes from how speech dispatcher calls eSpeak NG, or how espeak-ng executable or libespeak.so library is called, or how they use language data files (then bug comes from broken packaging/installation). Note that recently was released new version of eSpeak NG 1.50. Debian packages of which are available here.

Note that with espeak the pronunciation was good.

#702 In French: bad pronunciation of the letter "ô"

Hello,

Environment: - Debian 10 "Buster" - Speech Dispatcher 0.9 and master - Espeak NG 1.49 and master - In French FR default voice

Espeak NG no longer pronounces the following words correctly: - Plutôt - Bientôt

If I remove the "^" the words are correctly pronounced so the word are: - Plutot - Bientot

The pronunciation was good with the old espeak.

Let me know if I could help.

Best regards.

[espeak-ng:master] New Comment on Issue #621 mbrola not working
By GHPS:

I had the same issue with using a mid 2019 dev version of Mbrola

mbrola: Fatal error in line:
mbrola:
mbrowrap error: mbrola exited with status 253

The problem has been fixed in commit 3b77613e8675a091, so that official Mbrola ver. 3.3 and newer are not affected anymore.

So this issue can be re-closed.

Thgcode it doesn't work for me, there is no multiplicative effect. It sounds exactly the same speed if espeak TTS speed is already maxed out.

By rhdunn:

I can't reproduce that issue locally. It looks like LTO is treating the samplerate in libespeak-ng the same as the one in espeak-ng. Does the following fix the issue?:

diff --git a/src/espeak-ng.c b/src/espeak-ng.c
index 10b8a887..3a7838cf 100644

 bool quiet = false;
 unsigned int samples_total = 0;
 unsigned int samples_split = 0;

If so, I will commit that change.
