0b0661cef016: Use the encoding.c tables for 8-bit encodings. 1. Store the encoding enumeration values in the Translation object, instead of the charset table. 2. Use the encoding.c charset table data instead of the ones in translate.c. 3. Remove the charset language file option -- it is only used in the Arabic language file, but is used incorrectly there. 4. Specify ISO 8859-6 for the 8-bit encoding for Arabic instead of UTF-8, so that espeakCHARS_8BIT and espeakCHARS_AUTO work correctly for Arabic.

About the spanish dialects and future versions of eSpeak NG in NVDA

Luis Carlos González Moráles

Hi to all,
I'm wondering about the spanish dialects in eSpeak NG if anybody wants
to work on it, and additional romance languages, both old and modern.

As about future versions with NVDA, it will be possible to change the
folder that have the voices to the lang folder, and the variants to the
voices folder so they willbee as like the normel one.

Recently aimed to test the new version, However the binary listed for download, is not recognised by Windows XP SP 3.

This is not a major concern as XP is end of life in any event.

I will in the absence of confirmation that the listed download is "bad" build, assume that NG now needs Windows 8 or higher, and that I'm stuck using the last version of the original E-Speak (which still supports XP) if someone can advise which version that is.

It should not have done without the opinion of the respective native
language speakers. This language was added by developers from India.
Request you to revert to the earlier position.

No, the Manipuri language incorporated in espeak is Meitei. Though it
has its own script it is not yet officially used due to its
abandonment for centuries. in stead it uses Bengali script. I'm a
native speaker of Meitei language.

there are two. Meitei, or Bishnupriya manipuri. Meitei is Sino-tibetan,

Because Meitei language hasn't alphabet and I think, that this is

The recognized Manipuri language is the one which is also known as
Meitei which is a family of Tibeto-Burmese language. Unfortunately
though it has its own script it uses Bengali script for official
purpose.

[espeak-ng:master] New Comment on Issue #238 Question about Manipuri language
By rhdunn:

Thanks for clarifying the distinction between the two languages. The supported language is Bishnupriya Manipuri, which I have pushed a code change to reflect, due to the use of the Bengali script in the language files.

NOTE: Meitei uses the Meitei (Meetei Mayek) script according to Wikipedia, which is suppoted in Unicode.

#238 Question about Manipuri language

Hi! I have a question. What language 'Manipuri' do You worked on? Because, there are two. Meitei, or Bishnupriya manipuri. Meitei is Sino-tibetan, but Bishnupriyamanipuri is Indic language. Please, could You reply on It? Because Meitei language hasn't alphabet and I think, that this is Bishnupriya manipuri, which is written in Bengali script. Thank You! Marco
