[espeak-ng:master] New Comment on Issue #708 Where can the android apk be obtained?
By valdisvi:

There are several builds provided in Google Play. Most recent one is probably: eSpeak NG - with emoticons support.

[espeak-ng:master] New Comment on Issue #716 SAPI 5 read book mark mark equal; at the end of each text
By Mahmood-Taghavi:

Thanks, I saw issue #7, I could help in developing Voice Management section by providing a standalone visual C# program for add/remove SAPI 5 voices, setting variants, and perhaps a custom pronunciation dictionary, and some dialogs for easy setting of the advanced espeak configurations. But I have not any experience in SAPI 5 engine development and in programming using C in an applied manner or even in setting up the required environment for debugging! Thanks again for supporting this project...

[espeak-ng:master] New Comment on Issue #716 SAPI 5 read book mark mark equal; at the end of each text
By rhdunn:

The espeak-ng implementation of SAPI 5 is not complete, which is why it hasn't been made available, so bugs are expected. See issue #7 for more details. I haven't had the time to complete the support, and investigate how best to map espeak languages and voices to the SAPI model to avoid adding hundreds of voices to the SAPI voice selector, and to support the customisation that espeak has.

[espeak-ng:master] New Issue Created by Mahmood-Taghavi:
#716 SAPI 5 read book mark mark equal; at the end of each text

I have tested espeak-ng on windows 10 pro x64 version 10.0.18363. SAPI 5 did not appear when the espeak-ng-20191129-b702b03-x64.msi was installed. But SAPI 5 appeared when the espeak-ng-20191129-b702b03-x86.msi was installed. I tested espeak-ng SAPI 5 using Microsoft Speech API version 5 driver of NVDA 2019.3.1. While other SAPI 5 voices work fine with the NVDA, espeak-ng read some non-existed text after each sentence I heard "bookmark mark equal" and then a number after each input text! So, I think this is a serious bug in the implementation of espeak-ng SAPI5. Please fix this bug because the espeak-ng is very useful TTS which supports a lot of languages and accents. Moreover, if espeak-ng SAPI 5 driver could be fixed then it could be used also with the dual voice for NVDA add-on which enables users to use two different voices where in most cases espeak-ng is the only choice available for one of the language or dialect.

[espeak-ng:master] New Comment on Issue #711 Issue with o sounds in French language
By valdisvi:

notre $u $nounf means word is unstressed, and next word will be probably noun. See description of flags. These flags then can be used for decision of following word in pre or post rules. What about my proposal for note/notes, vote/votes etc?

[espeak-ng:master] New Comment on Issue #711 Issue with o sounds in French language
By DataTriny:

Hi @valdisvi, The changes you made in #702 are right.

For notre/votre, I am almost certain that the rule found on line 1027 (o (tr O // votre) should be deleted, however I am not sure about the following two definitions in fr_list:

notre	$u $nounf
votre	$u $nounf

[espeak-ng:master] New Comment on Issue #711 Issue with o sounds in French language
By valdisvi:

Pronunciation for รด was changed twice already:

  1. for issue #133 fixed in 43562df397966e99802491e861d9916a7253b660
  2. for issue #702 fixed in 8b41079a1b49e5505af7f57f2147b731a280bb7b

Do you want to change current simply rule to O or something else?

Pronunciation rules for o are quite complicated and for me it is hard to say, how to categorize them properly. One solution for note/notes, vote/votes, code/codes, robe/robes, protocole/protocoles could be following rule:.

...
.group o
...
C) o (CA_ O // preceding consonant, o, followed by consonant, vowel at the end of word as O
C) o (CAs_ O // preceding consonant, o, followed by consonant and vowel and s at the end of word as O
...

Maybe instead of C or A more specific group can be used e.g. L01..L05 or Y.

For Ubuntu, 1.50 is in focal (https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/espeak-ng and others). Installing those deb files may work. Otherwise, https://github.com/espeak-ng/espeak-ng/blob/master/docs/building.md#linux-mac-bsd describes how to build espeak-ng from source on Debian/Ubuntu.

[espeak-ng:master] New Comment on Issue #437 Misrendering of the word "wherever"
By rhdunn:

I've built and checked 1.49.2 and can see inconsistent behaviour like demonstrated above. With 1.50, I am unable to reproduce the behaviour. There were issues with the emoji support introduced in 1.49.2 that caused issues like this, so this issue was likely fixed when one of those was fixed.

@RhyanJohnson Can you test with 1.50 and confirm if this is still an issue for you?

@PetrochukM espeak-ng 1.50 should be more stable than espeak, as the crashes introduced in espeak-ng 1.49.2 from the emoji support should be fixed. The espeak-ng code contains various security fixes that espeak does not have.

sudo apt-get install espeak-ng -y installs 1.49.2 so I assumed this was the latest version. This is the version causing issue. I see 1.50 was released in December - is there a simple command line installation for 1.50?

I can barely notice any difference between the two, quite frankly, but g'If seems good.
