#711 Issue with o sounds in French language

Hello, Here are two issues I've found concerning the "o" sound in French.

  1. The word "note" is pronounced correctly (n'Ot), but not "notes", which is pronounced "n'ot" where it should be "n'Ot". This is true for a couple of other words such as vote/votes, code/codes, robe/robes, protocole/protocoles...
  2. "notre" is pronounced like "nôtre" (n'otr) but it should be "n'Otr".

Thanks in advance for fixing these, or pointing me to the steps needed to resolve them.

#712 Questions: Update via GITHUB and Read PDF

Hello I have some doubts I tried to search ... It may be my ignorance ... It is better to ask than to be absent from knowledge.

I actually have two doubts:

1 - How can I update if I already have it installed on my Debian. What is the exact command to update via Git Hub.

2 - How can I make it Read PDF. I saw that it was possible but I couldn't get it to work.

Thanks in advance!

Hello, I encountered a similar issue with the word "dépôt". Here is how it is currently translated: dep'O~ And here is how it should be translated: dep'o

I would also like to help fixing this and others that I have found, but I can't get my head around the rule/list files... Thanks.

#710 espeak_Cancel() not working on a Arm64

Hi, i compile source (1.51) with async and pcaudiolib at debian 10 arm64 and debian 10 x64, x64 works great but arm64 has a few issue. when i call "espeak_cancel()" on another thread it waits to complete speech. Also SynthCallback returns all events at the begining of speech same code works on x64 as expected but not works right in Arm64.

What am I doing wrong or whats happening ? Thank you.

Edit: Also debian 1.49.2 packages has same issue. Edit 2: Btw original espeak library works as expected, i guess there is a thread issue at espeak-ng

[espeak-ng:master] New Issue Created by kimyouree:
#707 French synthesizer does not read numbered values correctly

1. Example of text:

French: "Les gagnants des 75e et 251e gagneront des prix." English: "The winners of 75th and 251st will win prizes."

2. Explanation:

When the text is read in English, the numbers with suffixes are read correctly, and sound like: "seventy-fifth" and "two-hundred-and-fifty-first".

However, the French(France) synthesizer does not read the suffix value correctly. For example, "75e" and "250e" should be read to sound like: "soixante-quinzième" and "deux cent cinquantième", instead, they are read as: "soixante-quinz-é" and "deux cent cinquant-é".

#706 pronunciation error with abbreviations followed by "'s"

Using any of the English voices, abbreviations followed by "'s" such as IBM's or MIT's are read as though the 's is not there. To clarify, "IBM's mainframes" is read as "IBM mainframes". This only occurs if the abbreviation is in uppercase. I'm using version 1.49.3 dev which is included with NVDA as of version 2019.2.1.

Re: usb output crashing espeak-ng

I used sudo service restart espeakup in a script to get espeakup back
alive. I also installed the USBdev package to perhaps cure this
problem. It seems to work but I'll know in a couple days.

Subject: [espeak-ng] usb output crashing espeak-ng

When I use usb speakers and run espeak-ng on them with slint linux, sooner
or later I have a randomly timed crash where speech goes away.
Last time this happened, I used control-c then ran speaker-test
successfully. The espeak-ng program did not start talking again after
speaker-test got run. On slint I think I can run rc.espeak-ng to get
speech going again but don't
quote me on that since I haven't yet tested that. More on this later as I
discover things.

Not pronunciation in Nepali letters

Naresh Kushmi

Since the emoticons support came in Espeak ng, Nepali letters (उ, ऊ, ठ) have not been pronounced.
So please request that it be fixed as soon as possible.
