OT - The best meteor shower in years is happening August 11-13

Rene Matthijssen

The Perseid meteor shower will peak during the overnight hours between Aug. 11 and Aug. 12, according to Forbes.

Unlike most meteor showers, the Perseids have a very broad peak, lasting until 4 a.m. ET on Aug. 12. NASA said that’s because Earth takes more than three weeks to sift through the dust left from the comet “Swift-Tuttle.”

So where should you look to catch a few falling stars? Well…anywhere! NASA said anyone watching should be able to see about 60 to 70 meteors an hour during the shower’s peak. –
