cittas arising in between

Dear Sarah,

A question about this passage.

Even seeing appears as seeing all the time, nothing in between. But there are so many moments of citta in between, unknown. Seeing seems to see all the time. In order to understand the truth there must be wise considering of what is really seen.

The nimitta of what is seen shows the rapidity of the arising and falling away of seeing and that which is seen. It is so very rapid; no one can experience the different moments in between because pañña is not developed. When pañña is more developed there can be understanding of those different moments. There will be more letting go, no clinging to that which follows. There can be right understanding of a reality even though the arising and falling away of realities does not appear yet.

After seeing, pañña cannot understand the following citta, that is why seeing appears as nimitta, not just a single moment.

———
I remember that Acharn said: if we do not let go of  the present reality, impossible to know what follows. Does Acharn mean:If that is the case, we are stuck and the arising and falling away of realities cannot be understood. No higher stages of insight. Is that correct?

You are so busy with all the other sessions, perhaps we can discuss this weekend?

Nina.

S: Not quite as I understand her meaning. She is referring to when there is clinging, there is no "letting go" of what appears and it seems the seeing or visible object or whatever it is lasts. The clinging is also just for a moment and then gone. When paññā arises, there is "letting go" at that moment and as it develops, more and more "letting go" until there is the direct understanding of realities clearly leading to the higher direct understanding of the arising and falling away of realities.

So gradually there is less clinging to the object appearing through the development of understanding. When there is the direct understanding of the arising and falling away, no clinging to what follows and no doubt about nimitta.

I think that any idea of "we are stuck" means we forget about the conditioned nature of dhammas and how paññā of any degree can arise anytime unexpectedly.

N: You are so busy with all the other sessions, perhaps we can discuss this weekend?
S: Yes, a good topic to discuss further.

Dear Sarah,
thank you for your answer. I need more discussion before I really understand this.
