Reykjavik Radio: area call messages (contains 1 attachment)

Richard Ware

Hello folks

Looking at my recent loggings I've noticed that although I've logged 2
'area calls' messages from Reykjavik on 2177.0 on 14th (using YADD)
neither of them appeared on the YADDNet server or my RWW report when I
did a search. Today (15th) I've logged 3 area calls so far, again on
2177.0 but using DSC decoder vice YADD. None of these appear on the
server or my daily RWW report either. The last area call message from
Iceland on 2177.0 is shown as being received on 10th

Here are the codes for one of the messages for 14th (via YADD)

20191214 1731 2177.0 002510100 Reykjavik Radio, ISL, 1845 Km

TC1:J3E TP TC2:NOINF FREQ:02182.0/02182.0KHz POS: -- EOS: EOS ECC: 98 OK
---

Here are the 2 RAW decodes from COAA for today's calls (COAA doesn't
include the cECC, which is a shame)

102 102 17 00 40 12 40 108 00 25 10 10 00 109 126 02 18 20 02 18 20

127 [19-12-15 02:04:10]

Has anyone else been monitoring 2177 and experienced the same thing?
Am I overlooking something obvious?

Hi Rich,

I don't know what's happened, but it looks like YaDDnet is ignoring AREA calls.... there are none since 11/12/19.

I've done some changes to the YaDDNet code recently, intended to feed all the incoming messages back out via UDP to a separate logging server run by Alan at WLO - partly as a backup in the event that we lose the main YaDDNet database, and partly to give him a collated feed of all the data for his own purposes. This is working well, but I guess I've done "something wrong" and introduced a new bug that means AREA calls are being missed....

I'll be back once I've found it...

Cheers,

John
