REU-DSC Logs from North West Italy 2020-4-6

Bruno

Hi All,
I keep observing lower quantity of messages from Coast Stations on 2187.5 , especially in the night between 6th and 7th of April (next logs report).
I suppose that due to Covid situation there are less and less ships travelling like airplanes.
Anyhow I was lucky catching  2  new  stations for me:  002302000 Helsinki Radio and 002750100 Riga Rescue Radio.

Hi Bruno,

There are certainly less cruise ships, that market has dried up. Also noticeable the absence of marine training colleges that run courses - like 219016306 DNK I presume are closed?

Hi all,

219016306 SIMAC are not closed .... well not quite closed at least.

We managed to complete our spring  GMDSS course before the COVID-19 break out in march.

And we will soon begin to transmit again - as we'll start GMDSS class up by monday the 24th of August and run in week 35, 36 and 37.

If any of you manage to listen in on RDN Patrolvessels on VHF DSC - would you be so kind to let me know? I know that VHF normally dosen't go very far ..... but sometimes I notice that it does after all travel quite far.

Best regards ..... and stay safe

Dorte/SIMAC

Hi Dorte,

Good news about your Spring course and I'll be keeping a watch out for MF/HF SIMAC 219016306 from 24th Aug onwards...with fingers crossed.

Maybe others nearer to you may copy your RDN vessels on VHF but it's doubtful for me?  Though I have received Lyngby Radio on VHF 4 times  -  twice in Dec 2016, once in Jun 2018 and the last time in Dec 2019.  So as you say VHF can go a long way under the right conditions.

Best regards to you and family, stay safe...

Peter

Hi Dorte,

Good luck with your course.
I cannot be of any help with VHF, but you will be promptly informed if I receive anything on HF.
