Maybe i'm getting this wrong, but.
To me it looks as 006010060 is a shore-based installation, used for test communications from ships when doing radio surveys or service.
Imtech Marine (Previously known by some of you as Radio Holland) is a well known supplier in the ship nav and comms business, and they seems to be present in Cape Town.

So the 006010060 may not be a "Coast radio station", but rather a "regular ship radio station located ashore" doing some DSC stuff.
We have (or have had) something similar here in Sweden where a local service supplier uses a ship transceiver located ashore at the west coast.

My feeling is that your message is a errored version of a call from Capetown 006010001

YaDDNet shows a TEST call FROM the same vessel at 03:00 addressed to Capetown (reported by OE3WYC). I doubt if there was also a TEST request sent by the vessel to 006010060 at the same time that might have caused the transmission you're hoping to have received to have been sent from 006010060.

I don't know how MutiPSK indicates the various errors, but it's obvious that your message has some problem(s). I'm not sure which symbol is being reported as having parity errors in DX and RX copies (Error (DX=0111011001 RX=0001011001) )

The final "3" in the sender MMSI is doubtful though.

0 60 10 6 3

00 60 10 06 03 => 006010060 since the final digit is usually zero and always ignored in MultiPSK, DSCDecoder and YaDD. SeaTTY does show the final hidden digit, and Rich can perhaps confirm that in >99% of cases it's a zero. Although some senders DO have a non-zero final digit to indicate a sub-station on a larger vessel, I don't think this is the case here.

I'm afraid it's too dubious, especially with the matching TEST REQuest to Capetown reported by OE3WYC, to think it's from  006010060 / Imtech.

Yes folks, I can confirm that. VERY rarely have I seen any ten-digit
MMSIs on SeaTTY ending in anything other than zero.
On the subject of 'substations on a larger vessel' I could tell you
about an experience I had with the fixed lifeboat station on the old
Royal Mail cruise liner Andes/GQCV, but I'll have to leave it as it
has nothing to do with DSC !

Hello all,

YaDDNet http://gm4slv.plus.com:8000 continues to attract many uploaders, which is very gratifying. More data is good!

YaDDNet has been running since April 2014 and has gathered very many DSC messages in that time. In October 2017 I changed the format of how the data was stored in the SQL database, and at that time I "archived" the original database table. I left it available for searching, in case anyone was interested in a slow trawl back through a mountain of DSC signals.

However this ancient data consumed almost 12GB of disk space, out of a solid state drive partition of 26GB. The "new" database continues to grow and as a result the partition was within 1GB of being full-up.

I took the decision today to drop the "archive" data and recover 12GB of disk space. There is now plenty of space for the "new" data to continue to accumulate.

I didn't want to lose the old data so I took a SQL dump of the complete database this afternoon. To test it was viable I loaded it into a new MySQL server installation on my laptop, and (after a couple of hours to load the data) I was able to search in the old, and the new, data.

I've put the SQL dump, gzipped to compress it, on Dropbox:

If you feel like installing MySQL and loading up your own copy of YaDDNet, feel free. You might find it's more trouble than it's worth, of course.

From now on I plan to leave YaDDNet running with little maintenance since there is no longer a danger of imminently running out of disk space.

YADD to Map

It is a great combination but I am having a problem getting messages decoded to be passed to YADD to Map consistently. At times every message is sent and other times it is intermittent or no messages will be sent to YADD to Map at all. I have tried different sequences of starting each program, both 127.0.0.1 and localhost, but nothing so far has improved the situation. Messages with errors are not the problem either. Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution? Thank you, Larry

I'd love to be able to help you as I think you also posted a message
some time ago regarding YADD2MAP. I thought the program's author
would've maybe come back with a suggestion for that one but it doesn't
seem to have happened. I hope your latest post doesn't meet the same
fate.

Many moons ago I dabbled with YADD2MAP but it didn't do anything for
me that DX Atlas didn't (I'm not interested in plotting ships'
positions) so I uninstalled it the same day.
I no longer use YADD. I prefer DSC-decoder

I hope you get an answer to your queries. Good luck !

Snargate loggings at 1751

Greetings folks

This looks interesting, and illustrates the problem caused by a few
YADDNet uploaders (they're always the same ones) who haven't yet
mastered the simple task of making sure the frequency shown by YADD
matches that of their receiver

Two calls to Snargate on 8414.5 Kc/s (correct) were logged at the same
time as one (allegedly) on 2187.5  Kc/s which was uploaded by IU0JLZ,
who incidentally is showing as having logged RCC Australia on 2177 Kcs
no less at 1627Z today (11th).  Nice one!. Luckiiy it was caught by
the 'dubious database records' filter at YADDNet Quality Control.

Consequently there are two ransmissions logged from Snargate to the
ATHENA; one on 8 speedily followed by one on 2, so I suppose it's
possible (or is it?) the ATHENA could've received an ACK  on 2 for a
REQ on 8. Given Snargate's pathetic aerial system I wonder if the ship
actually received any reply at all on either frequency.

Does the maritime world know Snargate is operational again, I ask
myself. There was a Notice to Mariners issued when it closed but I've
seen nothing since.

It's all good (but frustrating/annoying) stuff !

And Snargate doesn't actually transmit on 2177kHz!

I'm getting tired of trying to keep the database accurate. There's not much point having a database to collect loggings on all bands, from all over the world, if the data collected can't be trusted, we might as well make it all up ourselves....

From today I'm going to start a "3 strikes and you're out" policy.

If I need to clean up someone's mis-attributed loggings for a 3rd time I'll just drop their input, permanently, unless they contact me as soon as they realize their mistake and help me with an accurate start/stop time of the error. This will make it easier to delete the errors. I don't enjoy trawling through the SQL cross checking errors against the rest of the contributions to find the range of data to delete.

Regarding Snargate, the last I heard is that they are planning to move the DSC setup to a hilltop location, with the ability to erect a decent HF antenna. This should improve their outgoing signal. If this doesn't happen soon I see no point in continuing to assist them by feeding our collected signals (especially the ones wrongly reported!).

Now, I'm off to clean up the latest mess with my database.
