*many pix* GRANMA: Photo Feature: The tranquility in Cuba speaks of a failed skirmish

Walter Lippmann

The streets of Cuba did not wake up this Monday "boiling" with people in protests, as the orchestrators, intellectuals and executors would have liked, of the riots this Sunday.

The tensions with which the country awoke are none other than those that for weeks and months have been generated by the confrontation of a country with the deadly pandemic of COVID-19, mobilized by its people in protection of its own people.

The tensions are none other than those caused by the cowardly obstinacy to close all economic doors to the nation, so that the impossibility of trading, buying and selling as the world does, of acquiring, not weapons, but fuel, food, medicine, medical supplies ... it is translated into the family environment in the daily shortcomings of the table, the toilet, the medical treatment, the electric current ...

The others, those that artificially manufacture, based on manipulated information, those "truths" that depend on bills, on purchased people, on those movie extras who cannot act without acts of vandalism, marginalization, criminals who They undertake it with stones, against state entities, that violate and rob stores, that attack the public force and are articulated in gangs that bite and escape, in representation of a social chaos that they want, but that does not exist ... those, they did not wake up this Monday in Cuba.

Following the energetic response of the people, which came out in the face of the violent mob that, due to outbreaks and attempts, took place in various parts of the country, a quiet night and a Monday day followed that, as can be seen, that The enemy skirmish was not, but that, once again suffocated by the resistance of a Revolution that defends itself, refused to retreat or surrender, while fighting fiercely against all the obstacles placed on it.
