qrp-tech was already on groups.io so the YahooGroups changes were not a factor.

Had my first FT8 contact tonight using my just completed D4D DSB. This was also the first two way contact using the magloop prototype you see in the pic. Thanks for the kit!

Hello Adam

I don't care about legal aspects and never discussed them. In any case, rules vary from one country to another. So it can become a huge discussion. US is only one country among many, though for sure, a large and important ham population.

I'm sure you know, my view on DSB in Digital modes is, I am not a fan of it. In my opinion it's neither necessary, not desriable, nor valuable. It's only my opinion, others have a different view, which is fine and normal.

But still, the discussion on qrp-tech was, I thought, civilized... not about any particular product (yours or QRP Guys' product) just about technical advantages and disadvantages. So I don't see why it would have upset anyone or made anyone want to close the group. Surely the group was intended for technical discussions.

D4D is my original idea. I treat it as a design of simple kit for fun. As I wrote in the last Q&A in the FAQ part of the 30-page D4D manual, this is something new and it will cause quite a discussion to settle down if it is a legal mode, but I think for a new mode, you always need some time to experiment and understand it. Design is sort of balance and I designed it only around 1-watt trying to find the balance. Also I would like to mention the LSB spectrum is for PSK31 and the SNR to decode is much higher than FT8, so largely it is not causing problems unless the DSB radio is nearby.

Thanks,
Adam

First, twist the pair of wires together as per the instructions. You'll have a red wire and gold wire at either end of the twisted pair. After you wind the toroid, you will connect the gold wire on one end to the red wire on the other end. (Leave a short section untwisted at either end to facilitate this.)

So, go ahead and wind the coil. When you are finished, all of the loose ends should be fairly close together on the toroid. Take the red wire from the start of the twisted pair, and the gold wire from the end of it. Now, twist those two together.

You will be left with one red strand, one gold strand, and one strand of red and gold twisted together. These are the three legs of your completed toroid, ready to be soldered into the board.

Hi John,

Is there an Excel spreadsheet with the components listed? There is for the D4D so I assume this will be the same: check the spreadsheet for the exact components for your model, and it will tell you how many turns to wind on the coils.

Good day sir. I have a question regarding L2 and L3. In the manual I downloaded it says
"Wind toroids for L2 and L3 as following picture, it shows 16 turns for 40m". How many turns for
20 meters.

John,

I have an over time and full time job, so the shipping will be every Monday. Your rig will be shipped next Monday via EMS, and after shipment, the tracking number will be updated in PayPal.

Thanks,
Adam
