George, thank you for your help. Did as you instructed, but the files are ruined. Rebuilding the directory had no effect. Something happened after March 10, 2018. That was the last Photoshop file

John, that might be a symptom of directory damage. I don't think DiskWarrior runs in Catalina, so see if Catalina still supports:

Are you receiving a message like “this file is unreadable by this version of Photoshop?” If so, you may have to restore the file from backup if you can.

I use CS5 everyday and open them up in PS2020 ver. 14.0 all the time so I don't know what you mean by older files.

I’m not sure that it is pinkish in the first place, it might be a silver ribbon in the original that reflects the pink background in certain areas and not others. But whatever it is originally,
