Hi Jim, thanks for your remarks. The extra steps you added to the action make perfect sense. I often work this way but do these steps manually.
Leaving the resulting layers unrasterized has one advantage: you can reopen the smart object and increase opacities of any of the MMM layers to strengthen the effect. Once the layer is rasterized, this is no longer possible.
