ISO info on covid booster

Kenneth Nellis

So, I thought we seniors were supposed to get a covid booster every 6 months or so, and it has been 6 months, and because DC’s Covid Centers are closing after today*, decided wife and I should go today. We went to the Friendship Heights center, but they turned us away because we had already had the omicron booster (back in September).

Color me confused.

We make appointments directly with CVS (Walgreens would be fine too, I assume) via their site for the type (Pfizer/Moderna) that we want. The scheduling questions include when your got your last one. We had the omicron booster last fall and again this spring with no issues being raised.

The FDA hasn't yet authorized the next round of boosters, is why they're not being routinely given. They're thinking about it.

CDC indicates that if you are moderately or severely immunocompromised (from disease or immune-suppressing medication) you are currently eligible for/advised to get a 2nd COVID booster (ie fourth shot).
