We have around 200 subscribers on this list, so when you are thinking of posting a message to the list make sure it is something that is suitable for all audiences and of interest to all, or at least most, of the people on the list. Since this is a rocketry group almost anything to do with rockets, your own or someone else's should be fine. Discussions of launches, meetings and other club activities are also on-topic. There are certainly other things that will be of interest to the majority of the people on the list, but give it some thought before you hit send.
Marking a Message "Spam" Might Automatically Remove You From the Group
If you mark a message from this group (or any groups.io group) as spam, either intentionally or accidentally via your email's spam filter, the system may automatically remove you from the group. Just read this article from Apogee. It's from their latest Peak of Flight.
Interesting read but the numbers are most likely way off.

It was a bit chilly out so we had a small crowd, but we had some great flights. I think Steve Dramstad had a zipper on one rocket due to a late deployment and John Hall had a cracked fin from a hard landing, but other than those all flights were successful and landed safely in the field. I got in 4 flights during the day. I flew my Lil Nuke on an F62, my Stretch Blobbo on an F24, my Totally Tubular on a B6 and finished the day with my Majestic on an F27. Jonathan

If you go to where we were last time we are almost directly east from there. Looking at the map linked on the CIA maps page you can see the east access road that winds up to the south end of the runway. From our location last time go south to the 4 way stop. Turn left and drive east. The road curves north. You will see the entrance on the left after a bit. Jonathan

Outlook for Saturday
#Launch
Greg Smith
We have a rocket launch scheduled tomorrow, Saturday, October 24, at the Rantoul Aviation Center. For directions to this site, see http://www.ciarocketry.org/maps.html#rantoul
Setup will begin at 12:00 noon, probably at the alternate location inside the fence along the east side of the airfield. Our waiver allows flights up to 10,000' MSL (or 9,263' from ground level). We can fly until sunset at 6:00 PM. The forecast: ----- Saturday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 52. Northeast wind 9 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. ----- It may be a little on the chilly side at launch time, so dress in layers! I worry that the wind might be a problem, although we were lucky to have a beautiful day after a similar forecast two weeks ago. Let's call our chances 60% or so. I'll post the final decision about the launch here shortly after 11:00 AM tomorrow. You can also call me after that time at 217-840-1678 for an update. Our next launch will be Saturday, November 14 (three weeks later this time) at the farm field near Forsyth. We will be enforcing our physical distancing and masking requirements at tomorrow's launch. (Jonathan still has CIA logo masks available in a variety of fashionable colors!) ----- Greg Smith N9LHI NAR 15881 * TRA 1974 Director of Operations, Central Illinois Aerospace greg@... 217-840-1678

Re: ISO 38mm hardware
Jonathan Sivier
I am in possession of a set of 38 mm hardware that you could purchase. John Page, the founder and first president of the CIA, is getting rid of his rocketry supplies and dropped off a load of stuff with me on his way through town earlier this year. I intended to bring it all to our swap meet that is usually part of our October club meeting, but of course our meetings have been cancelled for this year. It is a box with 3 reload cases; the 240, 360 and 480 nt-sec cases, along with a forward and aft closure. The aft closure is the one with the smaller opening. Some motors have a larger diameter nozzle and need a different closure. So you would need to get one if you needed it. The cases have been used, but are in good shape. There isn't a seal disk with this set. You would have to get one if the motor(s) you plan on using need one. I'm not sure what an appropriate price would be. I'll have to check on that. The proceeds will go to the club.

I'll try to list some of the other stuff John gave me and see if anyone would like to get some of it. Jonathan
