Pizza tonight

Jonathan Sivier

Even though we can't fly today, we can still participate in our second-most common activity, eating pizza.  We will meet at Monical's on Mattis at 6:00.  All are welcome to join us.  Let us know if you can make it so know how large a table to get.

Gary,

Apollo 11 (2019) is starting at Savoy theaters in standard definition only this Friday. So it looks like it is available here, just not in IMAX. I didn’t check beyond the weekend but there are several shows a day for at least a few days.

Outlook for Saturday #Launch

Greg Smith

We have a rocket launch scheduled tomorrow, Saturday, March 9, at Dodds Park in Champaign.

Setup will begin at 12:00 noon, probably in the north half of the Dodds Park soccer field parking lots. We can fly until sundown at 5:54 PM. There will be no waiver in effect for this launch.

The forecast is breezy and damp:

-----

Saturday - Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly after 1pm. Patchy fog before 1pm. High near 50. Breezy, with an east southeast wind 11 to 16 mph increasing to 17 to 22 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

-----

Doesn't sound good. I'll look at the actual conditions and post the final launch status to this list shortly after 11:00 AM Saturday, but don't get your hopes up. You can call me after 11:00 AM tomorrow at 217-840-1678 for information.

Our next scheduled launch will be on Saturday, March 23.

The Grand Tour-Apollo Feature

Adam Joseph

Hello,

For those with Amazon Prime, this week's episode of "The Grand Tour" (The show that the former hosts of BBC's Top Gear now host) features a rather great feature on the love of Corvettes by the Apollo era astronauts. All told by pilot and space enthusiast (as well as, obviously, car journalist) James May. Some pretty familiar locations are used in the recording, as well.

It appears this movie has a very limited run in this country and is available only in IMAX.  If you want to see it, you have only today or tomorrow to travel to Indianapolis or Chicago to do so.  In a week, it will only be available at the museums in Washington DC.

One more time we people in downstate IL are out of luck.

I was really looking forward to it, much more than First Man.
