On April 25 I saw a green-tailed towhee about a  mile south of Spenceville in extreme western Nevada County, along an intermittent stream on private property just outside the Spenceville Wildlife Area.  I report it because the species is pretty scarce in spring in the valley and foothills--at least in Yolo Co where I live.  I have an old bird checklist from the Wildlife Area, from Brian Williams, that includes green-tailed towhee, without details.
