I found an orchard oriole in a female-appearing plumage at midday along Wood Duck Slough in the Tall Forest. I called the few people with keys to the gate- I don't know if anyone else sought it.
I didn't cast a shadow until after 10:00, before which time the birding was quite slow. For the last hour that I was there the woodland migrant encounter rate was really good, the best that I've enjoyed locally this fall. The shorebird fields today had nothing- zero birds!
