Re: Barnacle/canada hybrid photos, Camden Park, Elk Grove
My 2 cents on the goose, this bird does not look like a hybrid Barnacle x Canada Goose. More than likely a domestic cross.

Hi folks,
Probably the easiest way to view the photos is to click this link: https://ebird.org/checklist/S83959317
I don't claim any special knowledge on Barnacle x Canada Goose ID, but I would think

This morning about 8:30 at Camden Park I think I saw a Barnacle/Canada goose hybrid. It has the white facial markings of a Barnacle and the rest appears to be Canada type. It was in the pond area

Dear Birders,
I just noticed that I misplaced the insertion of loggerhead shrike into the 15 March list. It should be after Say’s phoebe rather than before. The comment attending the phoebe entry

Where I live in the sierra foothills, I have seen yellow Purple Finches more often than House. I once saw at least 3 in a flock of 20 at a feeder.

I had a strawberry blonde Purple Finch several years ago. Pics here: https://ebird.org/checklist/S41628739
Apparently this happens but is quite rare-- much rarer than in House Finch.
