I do monthly Raptor Surveys in Madera, Merced and Mariposa counties on a regular basis. There were fewer raptors in general this last year which in my opinion is due to less prey due to drought, over

Hairy woodpecker at Lake Natoma

I just found a hairy woodpecker in oaks between the bike trail and the lake on the Folsom side. This is between the Young Wo Circle access and the Parkshore access for those with Google maps.
