Re: [CVBirds] banded California gull

The juvenile California Gull observed by Michael Perrone earlier this month at the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area was banded as a chick at Mono Lake by Kristie Nelson and her team from Point Blue Conservation Science. Thank you Michael for reporting your sighting to the list. Observations of color banded birds are very valuable data! Any sightings of color banded California Gulls in the Central Valley can be directly reported to knelson_AT_pointblue.org. We use resightings to track the movements and dispersal patterns of the Mono Lake population.

On Aug 2 at the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area, a juvenile California gull was banded, with silver on the left leg, blue on the right.  Does anyone know its provenance?

Shorebird diversity was low, though there were about 40 greater yellowlegs and a spotted sandpiper.
