Anthropogeny — the study of human origins anthropogeny@groups.io

Anthropogeny was the original term (1839) for the study of human origins. It was later taken over by paleoanthropology, which is a branch of paleontology (the study of fossils.) Gorillas and chimpanzees evolved in central and western Africa, where the climate is warm and humid and no fossil of any mammal has ever been found. Humans may have evolved there too, without fossils. Therefore, we should again use the more general term anthropogeny for the study of human origins.
