This company is a good source of pigments: https://www.naturalpigments.com/
They also have an amazing knowledge base you can learn from. The knowledge base emphasizes historic uses of pigments.

Hi to all,
I experiment on gum printing and using generally powder pigments, and sometimes, for comparison, watercolior tubes.
I always found some paper staining, which can be reduced by sizing.

No suggestions but this reminds me of a tour I had with my mom of the Disney studios when I was a kid. We were shown bins of powdered pigments. They were so brilliant that it looked like it would burn

Hi Nicole,
I don't know if this will help or not. And I hope I'm understanding you correctly. But I have one pigment (black) that is powder, and it is already ground so fine that I can easily use it
