My Olympus DS50 has given up the ghost. I am now in the market for a
new recorder and would appreciate recommendations.

What would you like your new recorder to have or do? I don't know what
replaces the DS 50.

Mainly I'm looking for podcast creation/lecture recordings. I'm very
out of touch with newer recorders so I don't know features to ask for
or which I really wouldn't need, what features are on modern
recorders?

Hmmmmm than maybe even the Olympus LS-P2 would do. Note it's a little
mini me recorder. Only uses 1 triple A but it's totally for that. Yes
there's the consumer DM-7 which again a little mini me but it's part of
the DM-series which apparently though they can record up to DVD quality
they are more MP3 WAV players than recorders. Actually take back the P2
I think P4 is the current moddle. I just meantion they are little mini
me things cause they will have a little mini me sound to them. Hmmmm
there are podcasts if you want to hear them first. Even youtube videos.
