Need Help with M-Audio Audiophile 2496, Or Suggestions for New Sound Card

Kelly Sapergia

Hi,

I'm currently experiencing a problem with my M-Audio Audiophile 2496 card,
which I've had since 2007 or so. For whatever reason, I'm now unable to play
anything in programs like WinAmp, Foobar2000, etc. when the card is
selected. However, I can record just fine in programs like GoldWave, and
both playback and recording work in REAPER, which is set to use the card's
ASIO drivers.
I purchased some soft synths a couple days ago, but can't imagine them
causing problems as they're used in REAPER and Samplitude.
I'm wondering if anyone has any solutions for resolving this problem?
Failing that, I'm thinking that it may be time for me to get a new sound
card, but am not sure which one to go for. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Yours Sincerely,

Hi!
This card is quite old i think.
Do you want an external or internal card?
I have the scarlet solo from focuswrite.
Its a very good card but this depends on what you need of course?

Hi Anders,

Thanks for getting back to me. I'm looking for an external card or interface
that's basically similar to the Audiophile 2496 in terms of low latency, and
that is ideal for music composition.

Hope this helps.

Hi!
The scarlet solo from focusrite might be something.
Otherewise there are tons of them out there.
And i don’t know what to get really.
I gues most of them are quite low latency these days.
