Best Recorder that will Get Around Latency

Tom Kaufman

Hello list: I have a little project that I and a friend have been working
on: I want to overdub to a backing track! I tried Audacity, but it doesn't
seem to work on this computer.which is a Windows 7 machine! Now I won't be
using this machine for much longer; fact is, if all goes according to plan,
I'll have a windows 10 machine up-and-running by this time tomorrow night!
With the help of a friend, I found Wave Pad (it does seem to work) problem
is that there is just a bit of latency! Now maybe there's a way around it!
I must tell you that I'm using a USB Mic (someone said that this may cause a
problem) but this is what I have and this really isn't a great time for me
to be spending a whole lot of money! So my question is this: is there a
good recording software that is simple to operate, but will do what I need
it to do.which is to do multi-track recordings? Maybe (with the new
computer) Audacity or Wave Pad would work, but is there a way to beat the
latency problem, short of trying to find another microphone; one that's of
good quality?
