Winamp Error Problem

JM Casey

Hey.

Well, that's certainly not supposed to happen. I don't know about the nVDA error but if ctrl-shift-escape doesn't work, something has been messed up with windows. That keystroke should work anytime, anywhere...even if file explorer has crashed and is unusable, that keystroke should work to open task manager. If you can get to task manager some other way, maybe something else is trying to hijack that particular keystroke. A rogue NVDA add-on? I have no idea. Maybe this is something worth posting posting to the NVDA group.

Hey JM,

When I start the task manager this way,

ctrl-shift-escape,

my machine freezes up. NVDA commands gives me an error sound. The only way I can get back it to close, alt F4.

Actually this last time it done it (just seconds ago) got basically the same
thing (happens every time I open Winamp) sorry, but this is just
unacceptable! There's gotta be a way I can prevent this from happening!
Will try and paste something in, so you will maybe get a better idea of
what's happening; the one thing I absolutely won't do is to stop using
Winamp as (IMOP) that's the one that works best...at least for audio!

Hey Tom.
Well, no, you'd have to do it every time if there's really no way to closet
he error dialogue (there should be, though)...but, it's a better alternative
than restarting the computer.
It's not likely to be anythign else besides eitehr Winamp, or Windows. We
still don't really know what the dialogue is though. Maybe if you paste it
here someone can suggest something else.

Hello again list: No. The only thing I did attempt to do was to update
Winamp (I don't know if this the real "Winamp" doing this...or someone (or
thing) trying to get on to my computer! If I do the task manager thing,
will that take care of it and it won't bother me again?

Hey Tom.
Can you copy the error message? Do you know if it's coming from winamp, or
actuallyc oming from windows? I'e never seen winamp throw such an error
message.
Have you tried reinstalling yet?
It sounds from your message like maybe you have.
What are your options in the dialogue box?
You shouldn't' need to restart the computer just because of sucha n error
message. Just kill the winamp task in task manager or using command prompt,
and it'll be gone. Task manager is probably easiest if you're not used to
command prompt. Just hit ctrl-shift-escape, find the winamp task in the list
view, and hit delete. This is good for stopping any programmes that are
causing trouble. A lot of other weird windows issues can just be rectified
by re-starting file explorer. This isn't to do with your specific issue but
it's a good thing to know.

Hello list: Lately whenever I open Winamp, once I've closed that program,
I'm being met with a dialog that says something like "Winamp error" then it
wants to report the error (I need for this to GO AWAY) but so far, the only
way I find to make it disappear is to restart the computer (I'm NOT (I
repeat "NOT) going with another music player) but I do need to stop this
Winamp Error" thing! Actually what it wants me to do is to update to the
latest version of Winamp (I tried that) but that's where this whole Winamp
Error Report" started! How do I make it stop?

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide to make this stop
bothering me? I suppose I'd be okay with updating to this latest version of
Winamp (and if Winamp still works in the same way that it always has, that'd
be fine) but it doesn't seem to even want to let me do this! HJHELP!
