VIZIO TV accessibility with built-in speech.

Now I have read the manual and there is a way to make the RCA output from the TV, variable, just a matter of turning it on from the menus. Also, there is a way to turn on speech in the accessibility menu, and according to the manual all of it will then speak. That is quite exciting, so what I need to know is, are there any others of the Vizio TV on this list who have turned on the speech and just using what is available from within the unit, able to manage all menus and options? What they always forget is that there is no way that someone without sight can get to the menu and turn on the speech, and I hear it is "talk back," so I wonder how it sounds. I just have to get a sighted person over here and to play with my remote and see. :)

So, thanks all who have chimed in and helped me, explaining much and perusing the manual, etc.

Hi! Last week about this time I won a 50 inch 4K ultra Vizio smart TV, and need some speakers. We don't need surround sound just simple and sounding good. I think the back of the TV has RCA jacks for audio, but the output is not variable from them so I suppose there should be a remote which can be then handled by the main remote for volume from the cable box. We have Spectrum out here, so the cable box now talks. So please, suggest what you recommend I buy. My wife is getting impatient, :) (sort of) but we wish something decent sounding which I know you guys understand. :)

THANKS and please believe me, I sort of feel in a void as to what to look for, and where to find it. Amazon is good for us.

So, you have an Android SmartTv. Should be relatively easy once you get TalkBack going. Good luck.--Matt, N1IBB.

I’ve been looking at the manual again.
Unfortunately the specifications don’t say what OS the TV is running and there is no mention of Android so - as it appears to me - the Television isn’t an Android set so therefore - and the manual sort of confirms this - the Talk Back access you have is only for adjustments of settings and not much else if anything at all so therefore Talk Back is just a name given to the feature it seems rather than actually being the Android Talk Back Screen Reader App itself as you can install or see on Android devices.
It is exciting enough to be able to adjust settings and whether your TV is Android or not may not bother you and fair enough, after all you do buy a Television for the audio and sound I would imagine.
The Talk Back only seems to be in English and that wouldn’t be the case if the Television was Android as you would be able to use or install Talkback to your own language preference.
Some other notes I made.
The Television talks about its “Smart Cast” capabilities which sound nice but don’t be at all surprised if you can’t access these via speech.
There is no mention of DLNA compatibility, Google Cast compatibility etc in the manual that I can find so I would like to assume that these functions are part of your Smart Television and I sincerely hop that my assumption is right.
Good luck with all of that and keep us informed as to how you’re going, what system you end up connecting etc.

I wonder, why then, they could use "talk back," unless they bought a license to use it, or have some kind of other rights to use it or call their access "talk back." :) Well, as soon as I get a sighted person in here I'll definitely be checking that out. I won the TV in a raffle, so didn't decide on model number or access potential, that is just a bonus.

I'll definitely keep you all posted and I definitely appreciate you all helping me get out of the darkness with regard to this TV and what speakers, etc. to use.

Just a guess but I think Talk Back in this instance is just a description, the same as saying Voice Feedback.
Your attitude to the Television is much the same as mine was when I bought my first Samsung set in 2011 for the small sum of $200.
I still have that 19 inch set which will be moved into the Den at a later time.
There’s nothing special about this Television apart from the fact that it still works after 7 years without a hitch.
The Television has no special connectivity, has 1 HDMI socket, a Digital out and a whole heap of RCA sockets that are to do with video in and video out though I’ve never bothered about them having no need.
I like the fact that I can turn on the Television and just switch to whatever channel I fancy watching so if the Television did come with some sort of extra accessibility built-in? Well yes that would have ben a huge boom.
Actually the Television did come with an accessibility function I hadn’t counted on, Braille lettering next to certain controls on the remote - c for channel up/down, v for volume up/down and p for the power button. -
The Sony Android offering I have in my lounge is a real boom but not for everyone.
I have to accept that I’m a power tech user and that’s probably why I really like the Sony as - running the Android operating system - all sorts of possibilities are at my fingertips -.
I do appreciate that people wouldn’t be too interested in an Android Television so that brings us back to your set and my Samsung 2011 19-inch Television.
