Bose Sound Link speaker updating

Peter Russillo

Hello list, I have a Bose Sound Link Wireless Mobile speaker, the one that was made between 2011 and 2014, the one with 6 buttons in a row across the top, and the leather cover that unfolds as a stand for the speaker; I have it paired with my Windows 10 laptop.  I wanted to update it so the latency can be reduced; however, the Bose tech person tells me the updating software for that speaker is not available from Bose any more; if anyone uses this particular speaker, is there some source I can find the updater software, or perhaps a batch file that would do the updating at one go, and can be used by someone using a screen reader?  Thanks for any info you can give me on this.  I'm not in a financial position to get a new Bose unit, though I like Bose for the very good bass sound their peeakers put out.  Thanks.

Yours truly, Peter

For the best price on the Victor Reader Trek check here,

http://www.talkingmp3players.com/Victor-Reader-Trek-Talking-Book-Reader-GPS-with-free-3-foot-Magnetic-USB-Cable_p_128.html

I owned one of those Blaze ET devices and was very disappointed. It
had a very noticeable lag but the OCR worked pretty good especially if
one used a stand. After it sat on my desk unused for several months I
ended up selling it for around $350 which is all I think it was worth
and not the MSRP of over $700.

Re: Feature-rich Audio Editors

Hello Jesse,

I would suggest you look at Reaper. There are specially designed courses for us. Using NVDA is very accessible with a program by the NVDA team called OSARA and the SWS plugin gives the best accessible solution. In addition you can explore Reaper free of charge. The Mac version of OSARA is very accessible but I think the overall feeling is that Windows is a little easier. I manage the Mac but I am only a basic user and just learning. I am following the booth junky and getting a good voice over set-up. I am too wanting to add intro music etc. later.

The course Audio Ins and Outs to which I refer can be found here:

http://wiki.cucat.org/index.php/Main/AudioInsAndOuts

They had made the materials free as their funding had dried up. If you can’t find the lectures PM me.

Furthermore, there is a dedicated email list called Reaper for Peepers. Again PM me if you require details for subscribing if you can’t find it via Google.

My attempts into producing audio from what I've learned from that channel have left me wondering if Amadeus Pro meets my needs any longer.

The people at Music Radio Creative and many other sources seem to swear by Adobe Audition CC which seems to boast a plethora of great features. I'm wondering if this is accessible either on the Mac or Windows? Preferably the Mac as I don't want to run Windows anymore than I absolutely have to.

If not Audition, then what? I do own Logic Pro but find it and GarageBand to be more music-focused and harder to edit spoken audio in. What audio editors do all of you recommend or are there ways to be more efficient at the production of radio imaging in Amadeus? Right now it is very slow going. Thanks,

LG Smart TV with AirPlay capability?

Gerardo Corripio

I’ve a 2019 43-inch Lg accessible Smart TV; I’d like to use the TV with AirPlay to play TuneIn Radio and other apps that natively you can’t cast With. Netflix and spotify I can already do since they have casting capabilities, but for TuneIn Radio and others that don’t where would I need to go on the TV so that it can be set up For AirPlay, or via which means could I cast for instance, if I’m listening to a podcast on the Podcast app on the phone, or a station in TuneIn Radio, could I make the sound go to the Smart TV, like I can already with Netflix and Spotify? Thanks for info.

Listening to BBC Radio streams using Tunein

Dane Trethowan <grtdane@...>

Hi,

I recall someone writing with regards to not being able to receive BBC Radio
streams using Tunein.

It appears that BBC has pulled all its radio streams from Tunein.

Tunein lets a user listen to a radio stream without collecting that users
data and passing it on to the radio station being listened to.

Apparently this conflicts with the policies at the BBC so perhaps this
answers the question as to why you cannot receive BBC radio through Tunein.

Computer Wireless Headsets

Dane Trethowan <grtdane@...>

Hi,
I’ve very much liked using my Logitech H800 Wireless headset with my Mac over the years and I think its the very reasonable quality wireless link used between the headset and the dongle that plugs into the computer that has made me buy 3 of these headsets in the last 10 or so years not to mention the light weight of the headset.
Things have changed around here, I now have a medical monitor in house which interferes with the wireless transmission of the Logitech headset so I have to look at a replacement, anyone have any suggestion.
I like the on-ear design of the Logitech and prefer than to over the ear but if I have to use over the ear then so be it.

Re: Voice of America 1575KHZ Thailand Transmitter received from SDR in Collia WA

Dane Trethowan <grtdane@...>

The signal was received in a roundabout way and has a story to it so bare with me.
.
25 years ago one could receive the VOA 1575KHZ transmitter from Thailand where I live - 24 miles or so west of Melbourne Victoria Australia - but those conditions cannot be replicated in this area since we have a transmitter not too far away as the crow flies broadcasting right over the top of VO

I discovered a SDR - Software Defined Receiver - on the Internet set up in Collie Western Australia - around 2000 miles west from me - so I thought I’d give the SDR a go and see what was happening on 1575KHZ.
A warning to those who wish to try this SDR. The setup seems to be designed to receive signals above 1.5MHZ so you won’t get anything much on the lower parts of the AM Broadcast band.
As you can hear reception is pretty good though earlier on when I was listening the signal was more stable and even louder than it is in the recording - the marvels of a good AGC mask this -.

Dane,

How was this received? The audio quality sounds fairly wide-band. My knowledge of geography tells me this is a pretty long path even if in the same region. I suppose it is somewhat similar to receiving a station from South America here in Minnesota in the United States which happens from time to time. The signal seemed reasonably clear of interference from other stations. Did you have to null anything out to get this?
