you concise and clear instructions how to go about it in GoldWave, did you

GoldWave's time warp facility will achieve this. Go to menu and effects, to
time warp, go to first preset which is similarity, tab across to specify
change in length or percent, mine is

If the original plays in Winamp, have you tried converting it to Wav using the Winamp Disk Writer output plugin. That works for me. You can then convert the wav to mp3 with

I have not had that problem but it might have to do with the MP3 settings. The encoder used in the conversion may not be supported by WinAmp. The programs I mentioned as well as others are free.

To Tony and Georgina: I forgot to mention that Zoom does create more than one file; one of the files is named Audio_Only; if I'm not mistaken, this particular file is the M4A and will play in Winamp!

I have used Audio Converter Plus for M4a files. It will alsw convert M4B files if you rename them to M4A.
I also use Free M4A to MP3 Converter. It can split M4B books into chapter files.

Hi Georgina: If I convert to Lossless, then I then convert to MP3? The only way I can cut this particular file that I know of is with MP3 direct cut ()MP3 Direct Cut only works with MP3 files)
