Registering I'm here for the list
Rea Lists
I'm Ray and I am in the UK.
Hoping, Tom and list, I read you correctly that we have to send an initial message to the list to be seen as non-spammers. I've found PC Audio useful and I do a lot of recording for our weekly talking newspaper. I'd like to thank Tom for all his work in migrating the list to this provider. Hope Tom, or someone, you can tell me how to go digest mode. Happy to sit here quietly in the background. ray.

Hmmmmmmmmmm I know SoundForge can lower it. I guess equalize it too but not too sure as I don't do taht. Making things louder or quieter is about all I do.

Re: hi! and a ripping question
Clifford Blackwell
I believe there is a conversion function in CDEX. You'll have to look around in the menus to find it as I don't recall where it is. I would guess Mindows Media would have the similar capability. Otherwise, there are many free file converters available with a simple Google search.

On the old PC Audio list someone was handing out the audio converter from dvd video soft but that was a while ago and I don't know if this person's joined yet cause it was an older version he handed out and warned not to update. Cause 1 all their new software ain't as coustimizable and also now they want you to pay for stuff. Which goes against the free thing. Their youtube thing is still called free youtube to mp3 converter for instance. What a pack of lies. They want you to sub to something to use it.

Editing out pops with Audacity - not working
Fred Becker
I have a long track that has delay on it and a loud pop that gets repeated with each delay. The pop itself sounds a lot like the pop of a noisy LP. It is caused by lack of oscillators in an additive synthesizer, the Synergy. This pop also repeats about ten times throughout the track. On initial recording, there was no way to get it to play without pops occurring. So I left the recording for cleaning up later--now. Manually zooming in to find the pop is workable, but smoothing out the discontinuous waveform is still not removing the pop. Plus, the pop gets harder to find with each delay repeat getting quieter and quieter. Several attempts have not worked, so I'm checking here for help. Is there a tool within Audacity that can isolate such noise and remove it?
Fred (first post and thanks for restarting the group)

Smiling?
Just use an audio editor such as GoldWave or any other that you so see fit and convert/transcode these files into whatever format you selectively choose.
