Entering Serial Numbers into Sound Forge Audio Studio or Pro

Dane Trethowan <grtdane@...>

Hi,

I've just had to do this on a reset Windows system.

I know some list members were asking how the process of entering
registration for Sound Forge Audio Studio and Pro works so follow the below
and see how you get on.

You need to enter both a serial number and a balid eMail address.

Launch Sound Forge and the welcome screen appears.

Tab to the Activate With Serial Number button and press enter

At this point the cursor will be placed on the Serial Number field even
though the Screen Reader will not announce this.

You cannot it seems paste the serial number here so you are going to have to
type digit-by-digit including the dashes manually.

When the serial number has been entered press the enter key and then enter
the eMail associated with the Sound Forge serial number.

When the Email has been typed press the enter key and registration should be
complete.

Sound Forge will exit and - in my case - caused JAWS to hang.

Don't bother trying to use the JAWS Scan Cursor to navigate the screen when
entering the registration information unless you want to confuse yourself to
death.

Hope this helps.

The Take Control Of Audio Hijack book

Dane Trethowan <grtdane@...>

Hi,
I know there are many of you who use the excellent Audio Hijack Application on your Mac for all sorts of things, whether the task be a basic recording task or whether the task be a complex one that involves broadcasting to the world.
I was very glad to see that a Take Control book for Audio Hijack is now available and I therefore bought my own copy which I will examine shortly.
I have various Take Control books here on all sorts of subjects to do with Mac OS, associated Apps, IOS etc and all are well written and extremely useful whether you want to have a damn good read or need a little help quickly for reference.
To find out more go to https://rogueamoeba.com/audiohijack/takecontrol.php

Re: HDMI sound Bar and a Computer?

Hell to the yeah it'll work. Now note that when listening to an internet streem for instance as there is no vid unless you've changed some of the monitor settings in the sleep stuff for the computer after a while it'll go to sleep. No biggy just hit any key. But let your friend know this because it'll just happen and they'll be taken a back cause they'll think something muted. But na dude it's all good. Infact since my Onkyo TX SR 373 5.1 surround sound AVR is in the living room I take out my lap top to listen to stuff I ripped with DVD Audio Extractor. But yes you're all good. Another thing just to note you'll have to set it as defalt. So depending on how picky their note book is they'll have to remember to set the built in speakers back to defalt to get audio after desconnecting the HDMI.

Imtoo Audio Converter Pro

Georgina Joyce

Hello All,

I want to rip high res audio and use flac. A web link pointed me to ImToo Audio Converter. However, my Mac tells me that the certificate is out of date. So has anyone installed this app? Is it accessible? Or is there another way to rip CD’s to Flac on Mac OS X?

Thanks,
Gena

Hi!
Ok, the B&W app is quite accessible so it might be worth trying them out.
I still have my B&W PX and i realy love the sound.
Though the nc feature is not the best i’ve heard.
Bose are better on the NC side but i don’t like that Bose has bad range in regards to bluetooth.
At list the QC35 II i have hav problems in range after 5 meters.
NOt very nice.

Yes they do get good reviews.
When those cans came out they were the first to have completely customisable noise cancelling settings from the App.
B&W have also seen fit to leave buttons on the cans rather than touch pads.

Re: MP3TAG

Rob

I use MP3 Tag.

I'm not sure I can give you step by step procedures. But here are the major steps I think are involved.

Look in the File menu for an item to change directory. Use this to navigate to the folder containing the MP3 files.

Then select the files in the folder you want to tag. This might be all the files in the folder.

Go to the Convert menu and choose "Filename - Tag". This will use the file name to create the tag.

I think you have choices in the dialog box for how to style the tag.

You might also try some of the MP3 Tag sources in another menu whose name I cannot remember.

If you have further questions, email me.

Is anyone using this mp3tag program to add tags to their music files? Can you please explain how to use a folder full of filenames to create tags for the files in it? I just don't understand the syntax.

Thanks.

Jabra Evolve 40 Stereo Corded PC Headphones

Dane Trethowan <grtdane@...>

I certainly recommend these cans if you’re looking for a corded set for your PC and to use with your mobile device.
The headphones come in 2 parts, the cans themselves and a USB adapter.
The USB adapter plugs into the 3.5MM connection lead of the headphones thus turn the headphones into a USB Sound device.
The 3.5MM connection of the headphones is compatible with most Mobiles and laptops available today so the USB adapter may not be necessary.
The USB adapter has 5 controls, a mute button in the middle, volume up, down and next /previous track buttons on the left and right respectively.
The pads on the headphones are lightly padded and rest on the ear, lovely sound from the speaker drivers here.
The microphone is a boom type and offers plenty of adjustment, again the microphone sounds excellent for chatting.
The cans come in a nice zip-up round nylon padded case.
The Jabra Evolve 40 is an excellent replacement for the now old Plantronics Audio 478 headsets I’ve been using.
I don’t like the ear cushions as much on the Jabra - I prefer them absolutely flat as found on the Plantronics Audio 478 - but as you can’t seem to get the Audio 478 any longer then the Jabra Evolve 40 is a good compromise.
The Jabra Evolve 40 costs around $100 Australian.

Bose Sound Link speaker updating

Peter Russillo

Hello list, I have a Bose Sound Link Wireless Mobile speaker, the one that was made between 2011 and 2014, the one with 6 buttons in a row across the top, and the leather cover that unfolds as a stand for the speaker; I have it paired with my Windows 10 laptop.  I wanted to update it so the latency can be reduced; however, the Bose tech person tells me the updating software for that speaker is not available from Bose any more; if anyone uses this particular speaker, is there some source I can find the updater software, or perhaps a batch file that would do the updating at one go, and can be used by someone using a screen reader?  Thanks for any info you can give me on this.  I'm not in a financial position to get a new Bose unit, though I like Bose for the very good bass sound their peeakers put out.  Thanks.

Yours truly, Peter
