A quick note here - with rtlsdr dongles involved measure at 145 MHz instead. The 28.8 MHz crystals in rtlsdr dongles commits crimes on 144.0 MHz for obvious reasons if you perform the division.

Without the notch filter, the phase noise of the signal

What if the signal generator is replaced with the low
noise crystal oscillator, or even a LC oscillator?
Do we still need the notch filter?
No. Look here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRMxiePgA3E

For the casual, everyday radio hobist the 10khz RMDR
measurement is more than enough as the figure of merit
but for the hardcore users and a kind of the ARRL
standard the figures on 2kHz and 5kHz separation should
give a much clear picture. Is the notch filter step
enough to allow the 2kHz separaton RMDR measurement
or this is performed without the notch filter?
The 2 kHz measurements are highly relevant for old analog
receivers that may have VERY poor performance.
The notch filter I use is sharp enough to allow measurement at
2 kHz separation on 7 MHz, but it is far more straight-forward
to use a crystal oscillator (link above)

What about 144 Mhz RMDR test, how to make a notch filter
for that frequency?
http://www.sm5bsz.com/dynrange/dubus403/dubus403.htm
It is easier to make a good crystal oscillator.
I have used 16 MHz computer grade crystals. Q is not so
good on the 9th overtone so it is better to make a 48 MHz
oscillator followed by a frequency tripler.
I have not decided whether I want to spend time on evaluating
receivers on 144 MHz. I expect phase noise to be similar to
HF performance for the tuner-based units.

Thanks for the info. Tell me, is this basically impossible in a mode other than Full IQ or is there a plugin that can make visible changes to a waterfall without Full IQ?

It looks like Itead never received your payment and the transaction was "on hold" until it expired. Let's fix that.

Thank you for the wonderful implementation of the client and server for SDR!
There is one question:
When I connect the RTL-SDR directly to USB, the "Baseband noise blanker" action is directly reflected on the waterfall (the impulse noise disappears from the waterfall). But when I connect the RTL-SDR via Spyserver, the
"Baseband noise blanker" makes changes only for audio (by hearing the change is audible), but on the waterfall the impulse noise does not disappear.
What is the reason? It can be fixed? Version of spyserver 2.0.16.29, version of SDR # 1.0.0.1629
The wide band noise blanker (WB NB) works on the full bandwidth of the device. When not using "Full IQ", you are only sending a small fraction of that bandwidth along with the FFT display data. This means the WB NB has no chance to fix the signal with your current settings. Try "Full IQ".

or maybe this has left a bad taste and I will use the funds on something else.
I was so excited about this product and looking forward to receiving it but feel totally deflated now.
Hope everyone here that ordered direct from itead has not suffered the same fate and I hope you all get a nice

Paypal may cancel the transaction automatically if suspected of fraud. What is your order number?

Ouch!

I’ve done that by mistake – cancelled someone’s order instead of accepting it – was early in the morning, before coffee. £150,000 order as well. Fortunately, a ‘phone call resolved the issue.

I'm glad it was not one of those spams that got you. I worry too much and saw a possible problem you might have had.

I guess they sold more than the first production run or something. Hopefully there will be another before very long.

Are you sure it was from Itead? I ask because there is a spam pattern that insists that an order has been canceled and requests you to go visit a website or look at a pdf file. Both are ways to introduce malware into your computer system.

I managed to miss that final version r1627. I would like a copy please. I am not sure if we can do PM's on this board or whether you can put the file somewhere I can pick it up from. Until the HF+ arrives and without any support for the RSP1A, the dongle is the only game in town....

Hi All,

Today I added a second RTL SDR V3 dongle in direct sampling mode and connected a very simple LF / HF diplexer filter.

sdr://g8jnj.zapto.org:5556 - RTL SDR V3 in direct sampling mode 0-14.4MHz (Spyserver 1624) using whatever antenna is currently selected on my KiWi WEB SDR http://southwest.ddns.net:8073/

sdr://g8jnj.zapto.org:5557 - RTL SDR V3 in direct sampling mode 14.4-30MHz (Spyserver 1624) using whatever antenna is currently selected on my KiWi WEB SDR http://southwest.ddns.net:8073/

sdr://g8jnj.zapto.org:5558 - Airspy R1 100-500MHz using VHF /UHF white stick colinear

There's quite a bit of activity on the various amateur bands today inluding 21MHz, but it really needs a more sophisticated diplexer to clean up the images a bit better.. I'll see what I can build over the next few days.

Martin - G8JNJ
