Airspy Mini calibrate
#hardware
Dave C aka Dave3825us
Can anyone who calibrated their airspy please post directions? Unitrunker has been sounding like crap lately and I ran sdr# on some of the 800MHz freqs and it seems to be off. At 162.475, it seems dead on. On 477.8875 it seems dead on. When getting into the 700's, its not dead on.
Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: New server West of Scotland - Is it working?
John
Hi John
are your server up and running? as I tried again but no signal on my remote airspy software 73 Claudio. Sorry to say server won't be running again until this coming weekend. I hope by that time to have sorted the irritating RFI from the server computer which makes slight but regularly spaced lines on the waterfall. And replace the horizontal portion of the main antenna - 100m - with something more durable for the winter. Planning to experiment with kevlar cored ultralight DX antenna wire which resists stretch and has an OD of only 1.5mm. Wellbrook Loop as back-up. We had a power cut last week in my absence and everything failed to reboot (because I forgot to tell it to) so that needs sorting for the next outage. I will post when service resumes. Airspy R2 with Spyverter for the moment... John

Hello Simon,
Do you have a VLF antenna? should be nice to connect the antenna for one day to AIRSPYHF+ spyserver for test. I would verify the possibility to receive the alfa stations, my be at 14,88 Khz.... a true test for S.A.Q. event at Christmas eve. 73 IW4ENS Roberto

KiwiSDR is solid in NJ. Did you adjust the Buffer size 50 and Buffer count 30 on
spyserver? Jeff

Jeff,
Can you also try my KiWi web sdr which is running over the same network. http://southwest.ddns.net:8073 See if the web sdr also has problems if you run that and the spyserver connection concurrently. Regards, Martin - G8JNJ

Re: Good CAT and/or Omnirig Plugin?
I tested it some time ago, but it is bery "basic".
Omnirig support could be wonderful !

OK, thanks for the report.
It could be that my other Web SDR's are using up my limited uplink bandwidth. I'll take another look at it tomorrow. Regards, Martin - G8JNJ

Yes but when customs get the incoming parcel they will add 5% duty to the HF+ price

Re: Tinker Board Direct Sampling server
Since I am running a rtl-sdr dongle with only 2M width on my
Tinker Board, I decided to automate changing the bands that I listen to throughout the day. Basically , by restarting spyserver with a different config file
after a pre-determined delay. So the first effort is a simple script that will loop. Next, I will move this to a cron to be more accurate. Jeff (linux hack!) #!/bin/bash

Re: New SpyServer optimizations and features

Hi Jon,
The Wellbrook tends to have a high output on the lower frequencies. You could try adding something like a 100pF capacitor in series with the RF feed to the RTL-SDR as a very crude amplitude equaliser. This will roll off the gain at 2MHz by about 20dB and 1dB at 30MHz but will still be OK for MF reception as the natural noise floor tends to dominate on the lower frequencies. If the attenuation is to much try a slightly larger value of capacitor until you find a happy compromise. Here's a link to an online attenuator calculator. https://www.everythingrf.com/rf-calculators/attenuator-calculator Regards, Martin - G8JNJ

Re: Good CAT and/or Omnirig Plugin?
There is a CAT plugin for Sdr#, its called sdrsharp-catcontroller
Its been a while, the but when I did try it previously, it worked very well. Presents sdrsharp as a TS50 Find it on Google and/or gitHub 73 de kc1ccr bammi

My experience with previous Airspy purchases from Itead has taught me that it's very well worth taking the gamble regarding any import duty and VAT etc

As for an attenuator, oops, not got one....Time for some more home brew building. Anyone got any good designs that I can knock up? Still the HF+ will be here soon... VHF from Weston super Mare will be online later (87.50MHz through 150MHz). BW Jon
