I am based in the U.K....will Moonraker be getting any vouchers that we can use?

ITEAD we're offering HF+ yesterday for $199-$50 = $149 while we in the `U.K. Are being asked to pay $266 from Moonraker....surely our import taxes are not that much so why such a LARGE difference?

Antenna Switching - How to?

John

Folks,
Is there a reliable and affordable way of remotely switching between two different HF antenna (e.g. longwire or Wellbrook) using the internet when running Spyserver and an Airspy R2 dongle?
For example - I note that Kiwisdr users  have an 'antenna switching extension' software option with associated hardware on site.
Seems to work very elegantly.  Try it here: http://southwest.ddns.net:8073
Thanks,
John.

TNX for your answer.

I own a LNA + BPF ( https://store.uputronics.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=59&product_id=94 ) for 137.5 mhz.
This is why i was asking for  BIAS-T.

I use around 30 meters of ECOFLEX-10 between my antenna and SDR.

I will try it when received without LNA and BPF.

Tnx a lot.
The bias tee was not included in the HF+ and here's the reasoning behind it:
  • You will never need a LNA on HF with the current MDS (-140 dBm @ 50 ohms at max gain)
  • The MDS on VHF is also very low (-141 dBm @ 50 ohms at max gain) and sufficient for most real world use-cases
  • Adding a bias-tee will cost a few dB's of MDS
  • Even if you need lower MDS on VHF, to maintain the linearity of your system you will need a LNA that draw a lot of current, and probably operates at voltages greater than 4.5v
    • It is not recommended to power such LNA from USB
Of course, the situation is different with mid-range SDR's, but we are not in that segment for the HF+.
Don't worry, it will just work :-)

Mainly on VHF is needed.

Hi John

Thanks for your fast reply...I always connect remotely to your receiver as you are the only one out side in the bush! ;-) ,means no electrostatic issues at your Qth
I hope that you will soon reactivate your  station! I will offer a pint when you are here in Glasgow! ( promise)

Take care

Well, http://www.moonraker.eu  (in Europe) sells it for  £ 199,96 (pounds) just below the 200,- as promised.
And £33.33 of that is tax in the UK...
I wonder if the Chinese ones will get taxed? The usual deliveries are gifts worth $5:-)

So I guess/hope Wimo will be €199,99 as both countries are (still) in Europe.
Cheers,
Dick (the Netherlands)

Sorry for frustration. The sales weren't anticipated to be this good. Now the US/Canada residents can still benefit from a generous offer from our local distributor.

Good luck.

'I can't connect to your server, are you still working?'

Sadly not.
The power was cut to the island for about an hour this morning.
The shack is unmanned and the server computer isn't on auto re-boot yet.
Not sure if it would help anyway.
I suspect that I might be able to set Spyserver to boot up with the computer which might solve the problem in future.
Windows OS still a bit of an unknown continent for this explorer.
Perhaps after I strabilate things will be clearer.
Though, interestingly, I don't think I am going to turn into a Jellyfish.
Possibly a Sea Gooseberry instead.  Especially after the the alienating effect of the mishandled 'special offer' thing.

Keep in mind that I personally never tested that software against real hardware.
I'm going to receive one airspyhf+ engineering sample, courtesy of Youssef, in the next few days, so I can debug my software.
In any case the source is there on github, pull requests are welcomed. :-)
