Most every time I endeavour to update Fltsatcom satellite elements (TLEs) they are very old and/or place FLTSATCOM-8 over south east asia (120 deg East), (the map on Simon's link shows it at 15 deg West, which is where I 'believe' it to be) . I get great reception of these milsats on my 4 el yagi with filtered preamp pointed towards 15W but never sure if it's FLTSATCOM-7 or 8 I'm listening to. Can anybody clear this up for me once and for all ? Where/Are up to date elements available for these particular sats and is FLTSATCOM-8 at 15W OR 120E ?
Sorry to go slightly off topic.
Terry

Edited

That coax is excellent (Martin Lynch were minutes from me, now just 20 mins) I've used it for everything here and have a couple of drums left. Not easy to get solid copper coax anymore. Even Times MIcrowave sell their high priced stuff with CCU now.

Well,

Yes – the noise floor is very low, I have the HF+ which is superb and some gain from the antenna. Also using low-loss coax: https://messi.it/en/catalogue/50-ohm-cables-ham-radio/broad-pro-50-double-jacket.htm and no mast-head pre-amp.

Rightho. You do seem to be be getting at least or better reception from sats on your (edited: NOT) near-gainless log-periodic than I do with dedicated QFH/Crossed tor WX and several Trivec Avants for SATCOM. I suspect though that you may have an amazingly low noise floor. I was not far from you a few weeks ago (Falmouth) but forgot to take a radio (on the plus side, Mrs Meduzi-Jellyfish didn't have a reason to complain about it, so not everything was lost :)

How dare you - Septic Scyphoza.
It wasn't £5 it was £3.99 from Aldi.
Apparently Lidl have the HF+ in.
£8.99 for a blister pack of three - central isle impulse buy. What's not to like?

Well, it definitely works. MW is a bit crap but other SW broadcast bands are acceptable. Not bad for a £5 dongle!

Do you know how to add this application  on airspy Sdr software? will be great know which station you are tune in without check online .

Thanks

We developed that functionality way before it shows up in websdr. Get the right plugins and learn how to configure them.

Wagner, no-one here has called Brazilians "bandits". There were referred to as "Pirates" of which, the Brazilian's on FLTSATCOM, are exactly, that.

Highest freq is set to 500 MHz, volume and gain should be user controllable.

Hi Gary,
Looks fine.
Except I can dial up to 280Mhz only - you seem to imply it should be possible to go higher and down to DC.
Obvious improvement for me would be gain control.
Everything pretty loud in MW - be nice to be able to turn it down a little and may be up in some of the hight SW bands.

John.

Yup - not enough (too much) coffee.
I was logged on to wrong server -  rtlsdrblog.hopto.org.
Tried w5ggh just now but unable to cruise up and down for some reason.
Just stuck around 164mhz.  To many users perhaps...
