Hi, I would like to know whether SDR Sharp applies de-emphasis to the FM signals received. I have seen few other posts re this matter on the group, but there were some ambiguities there. I could see that in WFM mode, the audio spectrum in SDR# drops and gets cut at 15k, but in NFM is untouched. I am trying to study the amplitude of 1200 and 2200 Hz demodulated FM signals, used in packet radio, at various deviation values ( https://www.febo.com/packet/layer-one/transmit.html ).

Could be running into usb issues / usb noise causing dropped samples not all usb made equal I run mine off a port 4 hub as can supply cleaner power but have run into issues like that in past with my bladerf on usb3 one port better than the other different chipset. 

Some usb can be quite noisy can also be quite a difference between back of PC motherboard ports verse panel mount.

I highly suggest trying out different ports to see if any work better.

Not had issues with weather Sat's, certainly use decimation but also ensure things like agc are off and anything that would have knock on effect to signal e.g. noise blanking as you will end up passing that on to wxtoimg also probably the audio filter off so it not potentially effect your tick tock lol

Yes...i was using 10MSPS with 32 decimation, and i don't have audio problems but i have sync problems with WXTOIMG (I don't know the cause).

Ignacio: He estado usando mucho tiempo 10MSPS con 32 de decimation, pero por un motivo que desconozco tengo problemas de sincronia entre SDRSHARP y WXTOIMG.
WXTOIMG no consigue mantener las imagenes "rectas" y esto no ocurre a 2.5 MSPS.

Hi Ruben,

I always use 10 MSPS with the same programs without any problem and my PC is a mere I5. I think that your USB is losing some data at 10 MSPS hence the sync problem. Are you using data packaging? It does not work very well in my computer.

Hi,

The author will know better, but I think that you can use decimation to lower the effective sample rate instead of this experimental mode.

I don't understand the cause, but I have problems with 10MSPS and WXTOIMG.... i must use 2.5.
Using 10MSPS i have synchronization problems, not using 2.5.

Hi Don,

The bias tee puts a low voltage low current DC source across the antenna connector for whatever you want to use it for.  It will power a standard OEM GPS puck antenna with a built in preamp, or a SpyVerter HF upconverter.  I think it will also power the LNA4ALL preamp.  It could also be used with a transistor buffered relay to do antenna switching.  I think it is short circuit protected, but you would not want it enabled with a DC shorted antenna like a folded dipole, at best you would be wasting USB power and generating unnecessary heat in the radio.

SpyServer RTL's Direct Sampling? #RTL #spyserver

Hi guys,

As I rolled out from SDR-console v2 I've set up a Public SpyServer (kant-zone.ddns.net port: 7999), the receiver is located in Italy 60km North of Rome.
So far I've been impressed by how well it works with all the plugins,
however, I was wondering if there's any chance to switch the RTL dongle to Direct Sampling on the Q branch remotely on SpyServer as my setup will probably include HF bands in the future.

So, Is it possible to do it or maybe it will be one time?

Thanks much!  That did the trick.  A quick question about the bias tee setting.  It looks like that allows the matching of an active (amplified) antenna to the dongle.  I am guessing this should not matter much as I am using a mini-G5RV with it.  Is this correct?

This is for an RTL-SDR dongle V3.
The bias-tee in the RTL V3 is not a standard feature for all RTL dongles and was not implemented. So you can imagine the setting has no effect at all.
But this doesn't explain why SDR# can't tune below 24MHz. Make sure you have these key properly set:

minimum_frequency = 0
maximum_frequency = 60000000
converter_offset = -120000000

17261 - 17280 of 41282
