Sounds like a good movie title! While I remain skeptical about such things, they are entertaining to watch from time to time. I went into this one having no idea what I was about to see, but some

I am not able to help you anyway, but I advise you to be less stingy with information: be specific about the operating system, where you connect to to download the software, what steps you take, what

Re: Loop Best Practice Re: Genuine YouLoop vs. clone YouLoop
I don't know where this thread is heading, but it's an opportunity to recall how the front-end of the HF+ series was designed. The T in LNTA means Transconductance.

Re: Loop Best Practice Re: Genuine YouLoop vs. clone YouLoop
Hi Gord
Transimpedance Amplifier :
voltage gain is about 1
the amplification gain is from the impedance transformation to 50 ohms output
usually somewhere in the range 60-120x

a good choke at antenna input right before the rig also helps that the cable is not acting as a longwire antenna without antenna there should be nearly no signal if cable is decoupled well

Guessing it is probably a Transimpedance Amplifier.
Or maybe a really big tiara?

Re: Loop Best Practice Re: Genuine YouLoop vs. clone YouLoop
Hi folks,
Could someone please tell me what the devil TIA is supposed to mean? I have done a search, even including sdr as a search keyword.
I am sure it is not the airport in Tiran (TIA),

Hi Byron
I understand your point. I’d like to respond for now in keeping with the reply I sent to Joanne a few minutes ago, and give this Youloop / TIA investigation a full going over before

Hi Joanne
You missed, or sidestepped the point, maybe consciously or otherwise because it supports the conclusions you hold dear.
I won’t continue re-regurgitating the whole presentation in response

That is why you should disconnect the antenna at the radio input, silly person.

Re: Loop Best Practice Re: Genuine YouLoop vs. clone YouLoop
Paul,
If you get signals with a preamp inline that were simply "below the water line" and "not there" at all with the loop alone, that seems odd. If the noise floor rises with the loop alone

It’s been a pleasure chasing this with you and I feel the same, but for my view there’s scant observed phenomena to work with, so all we’ve had to

There's no willingness from the OP to consider the well-established other possibilities (faulty experiment design, faulty measurements, faulty understanding of the basic concepts involved,

Use your imagination. I walk around until I see something that will work. A coil of polyethylene plumbing tubing could probably add enough beef the result could be stood up or hung and still

Re: Loop Best Practice Re: Genuine YouLoop vs. clone YouLoop
The loop impedance is (puns intended) complex. The resistance portion is tiny. The reactance component is very high. So matching the antenna requires some imagination due the huge imaginary
