Old texts now, both the 1997 and 2002 editions are dated. A LOT has changed or been added via technology,
although in some cases, the algorithm's have been transferred to today's IC's and/or software apps.

Yes, the book is dated, the technology had advanced, but the fundamental algorithms are still the same...
That book is meant, as the title implies, for those who want to taste the water with their feet before
jumping into it... and, IMHO, it serves beautifully for that purpose.
Mathematics just kept to the bare minimum, things explained in a colloquial way with many examples.
The ideal book for the DSP beginners.
