Not anymore. I moved to the south and ended up in Baton Rouge.

MiG KiLLERS came about pretty much the same path BoP took. I started out in miniature games and when Richthofen's War came out, i and my fellow Airmen at Udorn RTAFB ate it up at the local USO. A teenager whose dad flew Air America C-123 Providers brought it to the USO and we had that table surrounded. Extended aerial combat lasted many hours! When I returned to the states, I was based at Shepard AFB, TX and ordered Foxbat & Phantom. I was RIFed in 74 and went home to Utah where I hooked up with Rocky Russo and between us we created MiG KiLLERS. MK was more than just MiG Alley- it covered all jet combat up through the late 79's and while the criticisms leveled against it are perfectly valid, I submit that MiG KiLLERS was the first air combat game that attempted to show and manage energy.

I thought Air War was a bit much (we called it a forest in a box), Flight Leader/Check Six was okay, and Air Force/Dauntless was fun. J.D.'s games were very well done as well. BoP is probably the peak of what can be done on a table-top with cardboard and I still strive to master it (as those who attended Pensacola can well attest).

I am very much looking forward to trying out the new computer.

Perfectly fine question.

Air War in particular got played a TON by the people who created Birds of Prey. I kind of skipped Flight Leader, as Air Superiority had already come out and was clearly superior over both Air War and Flight Leader… for what I was looking for.

Air War’s flight model was not as good as Air Superiority, while being harder to play.

Flight Leader was more abstract than I was interested in, and I didn’t really play it more than once or twice.
