South Hebron Hills
Colonists and their flocks from the
colonist outpost ‘Mitzpe Yair’ invaded tended Palestinian fields in Markaz (firing
zone 918) on Monday. Activists summoned police who arrived but refused to hear
the landowner’s claims. The colonists and their flock came back to graze there
on Tuesday and Wednesday.
On Tuesday, colonists chased away a
Palestinian flock in Zanouta by means of a drone, and there too the
police refused to listen to activists who reported the incident.’
On Tuesday, near Susya, colonists
chased away a Palestinian shepherd and his flock from lands approved for
grazing officially. A representative of the DCO arrived and confirmed that the
Palestinians have a right to graze there, but the soldiers ignored his
instruction and distanced the shepherd. The next day, Wednesday, about ten
colonists arrived with their vehicles and invaded lands officially out of
bounds for Israelis. Activists and villagers were summoned and made them leave.
On Friday morning, colonists began working to pave a road inside a privately
owned Palestinian field near the colony of ‘Susya’. Police and DCO summoned by
activists stated that the works were approved by the authorities.
In Harouba, near Tawane, colonists
invaded tended Palestinian fields with their flocks on Tuesday. The army –
firing teargas - chased away the landowners and activists who arrived. The activists reported that one of the
soldiers pointed to the terrorist outpost ‘Havat Maon’ and said ‘We are here
with our pals’. On Friday, at 1 a.m., a military force raided the village of
Tawane, soldiers beat up villagers who were out on the street, threw stun
grenades and prevented photography. On Saturday, once again, colonists with
their flock invaded tended fields of the villagers, officially out of bounds
for Israelis.
On Wednesday, the occupation forces
demolished a dwelling in the Al Juz area south of Kiryat Arba colony and ‘Giv’at Gal’ outpost,
and issued a cessation-of-work order at Um Qusa.
In Jinba (firing zone 918),
inspectors of the nature reserves authority fined a Palestinian picking ka’ub’
apparently without any legal grounds. On Friday, terrorists from the outpost
‘Havat Talya’ attacked a Palestinian shepherd and tried to rob his flock, fired
at him and wounded a goat.
The soldiers supposed to escort the Touba
schoolchildren to and from school and protect them from the terrorists of
‘Havat Maon’ continued this week with their tardiness and threats against
activists and Palestinian escorts. On Wednesday a colonist was waiting for the
children at their meeting point with their escort, but the army chose to chase
away the activists and threatened canceling the escort. Escort was also an hour
late the next day, Thursday.

Palestinian Jordan Valley and West Bank
Hill Range
All days this week, activists accompanied
Palestinian shepherds and farmers at the northern part of the Palestinian
Jordan Valley, in the communities of Hamra, Khalat Makhoul, Farisiya, and
En Al Hilwa.
On Sunday, the violent colonist from the
ranch-outpost near Hamra used a drone to chase away a shepherd and his
flock. The colonist went on to chase the flock accompanied by a police vehicle,
and at his bidding, the policeman chased away the shepherd on false grounds. On
Tuesday, too, the colonist harassed Palestinian shepherds and their flocks by
flying a drone, and later set at them colonists with dogs. In Farisiya,
soldiers were reported ‘visiting’ at night on Monday, threatening the community
and limiting its grazing grounds unauthorized.
A gang of soldiers from the ‘Kfir’ Brigade
base attacked Palestinian boys from Khalat Makhoul on Tuesday, and chased away
their grazing flock. The soldiers stole the phone of one of the boys and
violently smashed the phone of an activist summoned to the site. The police
first refused to acknowledge the incident, and when it arrived, stated it would
hand the investigation over to the Internal Police Investigations department.
In Deir Jarayer, on the West Bank
Hill Range, activists dealt this week too with the invasion of colonist flocks
from the ‘Ma’ale Ahuviya’ outpost into privately-owned and tended Palestinian
fields.
Near Auja in the southern
Palestinian Jordan Valley, the privileged colonist from ‘Havat Omer’ continues
to limit the movements of the nearby shepherd community, helped by the
occupation forces. On Monday his sons came to ‘talk’ with the shepherds and
ordered them to keep their distance from the ranch. The next day, soldiers
chased away the shepherds without a warrant, after a policeman confirmed that
there was no reason for the Palestinians not to graze there. The shepherds
also reported harassment by colonists of sheep and goats flocks near the
village houses.
A military force stopped farm works inside
Area B near Turmus Aya on Tuesday, March 8. Following activists’ looking
into this with the legal adviser and the brigade headquarters, the army let the
works continue.

crying Palestinian children near Issawiya, claiming they had thrown stones. The
next day, Monday, the police again went wild at the Damascus Gate.
The weekly protest vigil in Sheikh
Jarrah took place on Friday in pouring rain, but without any special
events.
The occupation forces demolished a
structure in the Shu’afat refugee camp on Wednesday.
