Finally this morning I was able to contact KD8KSN, K8TL, ND9M and AJ5C on HO-68. Just lots of competing withall the other stations and packet but happy I made my first HO-68 QSO's!

If you have an uplink PL programmed, just leave it there - it will not hurt anything.

No pl? I thought pl was 67.0?

Well tried the handheld antenna, I couldn't even hear it. Back to the Arrow heard it just fine, several commented they were having trouble getting into the sat, but everyone sounded just fine. I dunno.

It may sound strange- The transponder/repeater
is switched on for about 4-5 minutes over North India
about 1500 km north of me and I am able to acess the
sat quite easily with the ioio which I failed miserably
with the arrow.

Hmmm ... Why would a handheld antenna for the sats with less gain work better? There has to be something else in the equation that is messing things up.

I had a similar problem, your settings are right. I replaced my arrow for
a  ioio and it really works on the Ho-68.

For the life of me I can't work HO-68. I can hear everyone fine, and have no problems with the other sats. Any ideas? Here's my settings (Yaesu ft-60 ht 5 watt and Arrow antenna):

The mode change has occurred. The L/U voice repeater is now active and working fine. Enjoyed L/U QSOs with KC9ELU, N5UXT, and WA3SWJ. Note--remember to experiment with your L-band uplink frequency! Many users (including myself) find that tuning your uplink higher (in the 1268.703-1276.708 MHz range) works best.

Boy Scouts in Victorville Oct 16-17

We need someone to demo/work the birds with the Boy Scouts/JOTA in Victorville, CA on either (or both!) Sat and Sunday, October 16-17 in Victorville, CA. I cannot do it - I'll be demo'ing/presenting in Sam Ramon at PACIFICON.

Looks like SO-50 is passing 9:13AM PDT Saturday, or 10:17AM Sunday

And AO-51 at 4:16PM and 5:55PM Sat.

Anyone available for some high-energy FUN with the Scouts?

K6LCS <clintbrad4d@...>

My session on working the satellites last Saturday at the ARRL Southwestern Division Convention in San Diego was attended by FIFTY-SIX folks! Standing room only - five were standing in the back of the room. We had a great time. I had to shorten my presentation a bit - because we only had 50 minutes. But I was told it all went well.

Additionally, we worked two satellite passes Saturday afternoon out on the patio. Twenty-two attended the 3:46PM pass of SO-51 ... eighteen attended the 4:31PM pass of AO-51. I was pleased that many of these folks were NOT in the morning session (I printed up signs with the times an posted 'em on the convention's cork bulletin board and had one on an easel outside the meeting rooms). So ... impromptu "Q & A" sessions were held out on the patio, and we all had a great time a we contacted Montana, Arkansas, Tijuana, San Diego, Colorado, Yellowstone National Park and more stations via the "birds."
